Crochet Sweater Pattern Instructions

You’ll Need:

350 (450)g of denim-blue yarn (66% cotton, 22% polyamide, 12% wool; 145m/50g);

150 (200)g of the same yarn, but in brown color;

Crochet hook size 4;

Main Pattern

The quantity of stitches is even in the set-up row. Work according to Scheme 1.

Pattern for Sleeves

The quantity of stitches is multiple of 5 + 1. Work according to Scheme 2. Start with stitches before pattern repeat, follow the pattern repeat, and finish with stitches after pattern repeat. Make rows 1-3 once, then repeat rows 2-3.

Colors Order

Order A: 5 brown rows, * 6 denim-blue rows, 6 brown rows*.

Order B: 3 denim-blue rows, *6 brown rows, 6 denim-blue rows*.

Rib in Straight and Reversed Rows

* 2 knit stitches, 2 purls*, finishing with 2 knit stitches. Make WS rows stitches as they face.

Stitches Control:

16.5 stitches x 12 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

Pattern for sleeves: 21.5 stitches x 11 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

Rib: 35.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back

Make 74 (82) chain stitches + 3 chain stitches increase and work with the main pattern. Simultaneously, increase 1 x 1 stitch in the 2nd row for side chamfers, then, 2 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row; repeat from * to * x twice = 92 (100) stitches. For raglan chamfers, decrease 1 stitch from both sides in 11 cm = 13 rows from the set-up row, then decrease 3 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row and decrease 41 (45) x 1 stitch in every row. In 51 cm = 61 rows (54 cm = 65 rows) from the set-up row, tighten the remaining stitches with working yarn.

Front

Make in the same way as back.

Sleeves

Make 81 (86) chain stitches + 3 chain stitches increase with brown yarn and work with the pattern for sleeves according to color order A (B). In 48 cm = 53 cm (52 cm = 57 rows) from the set-up row, finish your work. For the placket, cast on 40 (44) stitches on central 21 (23) cm with denim-blue yarn and circular knitting needles and work with rib between selvage stitches. At 10 cm = 36 rows height of the placket, bind off all stitches as they face.

Assembly

Make raglan seams. For the neck-hole border, cast on 126 (134) stitches with circular knitting needles and denim-blue yarn and work with rib in circular rows, dividing the pattern as follows: make 1 knit stitch in the center of the neck-hole, front and back, starting and finishing rib with 2 purls. For better shaping of the placket, make the central 3 stitches as crossed knit3tog in every circular row in the center of the front and back. At 2 cm = 7 circular rows height of the placket, bind off stitches as they face. Make side and sleeve seams. Cast on 140 (164) stitches with circular knitting needles and denim-blue yarn and work in circular rows. At 10 cm = 36 rows height of the placket, bind off all stitches in the circular row as they face.
