Crochet Mittens and Ears for Kids Aged 3-4 Years

You’ll Need:

100g of grey yarn (50% wool, 50% acryl; 250m/100g);

30g of the same yarn, but in white color;

Crochet hook 4.

Size:

3-4 years.

Used Patterns:

• Main pattern: single crochets
• 1 x 1 rib: 1 fpdc, 1 bpdc.

Stitches Control:

12 single crochets = 5 cm.

Instructions:

Work from finger tips.

Rows Instructions:

• 1st row: double every crochet;
• 2nd row: double every 2nd crochet;
• 3rd row: double every 3rd crochet;
• 4th row: crochet straight;
• 5th row: double every 4th crochet;
• 6th row: crochet straight;
• 7th row: double every 5th crochet;
• 8th row: crochet straight;
• 9th row: double every 6th crochet.

Then crochet straight without increases to 8 cm height. After that, make a hole for the thumb. For this, make 7 chain sts, skip 6 sts of base. Make 7 single crochets from the arch of 7 chain sts of the next row. Continue work in spiral to 12 cm height, circle the last row with slip st. Then, make 4-5 rows of 1 x 1 rib, make 2 chain sts increase at the beginning of every row and circle every row with slip st. Finally, cut the yarn and weave in ends.

After that, turn to making the thumb. For this, join the yarn from the side of hole and make single crochet, making 2 single crochets from both sides. After that, work with single crochets in spiral. Skip every 4th crochet in the next row, then every 3rd crochet in the next row, then every 2nd crochet. Cut the yarn, tighten the rest of the sts. Make the second mitten in the same way.

Making Ears:

For each ear, make one grey and one white detail of 7 chain sts + 1 chain st increase. After that, work single crochets straight for 16-17 rows. Decrease 1 st from both sides in every row until there is 1 crochet left. Cut and fasten the yarn. Then, connect both details between each other with single crochets in grey yarn. Make 3 more ears in the same way.

Creating Tails:

For tails, make 2 pompoms with a diameter of 3-3.5 cm from white yarn. Sew ears and tails as it’s shown in the photo.
