Materials

Starting the Base

Insert your hook in between the V-shape of the single crochet from the previous row. Make a single crochet.
Repeat this "waistcoat single crochet" stitch all the way around.
At the end of the round, slip stitch to join.
Continue repeating this round for as many rows as desired to achieve the desired height for the basket.
Finishing
For the last stitch, instead of slip stitching, perform an invisible join.
Remove the stitch marker.
Thread your yarn onto a tapestry needle.
From front to back, insert the tapestry needle into the first stitch of the round.
Go into the back loop only of the last stitch you made and try to grab some of the base stitch on the other side.
Pull the yarn through to match the width of the other stitches.
