Materials Used

I used:

  • Ice Yarn "Furry" in grey - 5 Bulky (approx. 300 grams)
  • Red Heart Super Saver in Black - 4 Medium (approx. 30 grams)
  • 6.5 MM Hook size
  • Round marker

Gauge

Gauge:

  • 8 double crochet (dc) = 4 inches
  • 5 rows = 4 inches

Instructions to Create the Base

Base:

Using grey furry yarn

Round 1: Ch 70, ss in beg ch to join, ch 3, turn. Dc in each stitch around.

Rounds 2-21: Ss in top of beg ch 3 to join, ch 3, turn. Dc in each stitch around.

Round 22: Ss in top of beg ch 3 to join, ch 3, turn. Dc in each stitch around. Ss to join in top of beg ch 3. Fasten off.

Adding Borders

Borders (Front and Back):

Using 2 strands of black yarn at once

Row 1: Ss to join new yarn. Ch 3, dc in each stitch around. Ss in top of beg ch 3 to join. Fasten off.

Weave in all ends.

Creating the Band

Band:

Using grey furry yarn

Row 1: Ch 19, dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in each stitch across.

Row 2: Ch 3, turn. Dc in each stitch across. Fasten off leaving a tail.

Gather together a section of the cowl (as seen in photo). Wrap band around section of cowl. Sew ends together with tail and needle (put seam of band facing inside cowl!).

Add a few stitches to hold it in place.

Final Touches

Add a button or another amazing embellishment for a personal touch!
