How to Knit a Baby Sweater with Blue Romantic Yarn

Stockinette stitch: in RS row – knit sts, in WS row – purls.

Stitches Control:

24 sts x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back

Cast on 76 sts + 2 selvage sts, make 2.5 cm of 1 x 1 rib. After that, work with stockinette stitch, alternate the colors of stripes in the following way: * 2 yellow rows, 2 green rows, 12 blue rows*; repeat from * to *. At 20 cm height from lower edge, bind off 4 sts from both sides for arm-holes, then, bind off 1 x 2 sts and 1 x 1 st in every 2^nd row = 64 sts. After that, knit straight. At 34 cm height, bind off 7 sts from both sides for shoulder chamfer, then, bind off 1 x 7 sts and 1 x 6 sts in every 2^nd row. At the same time with making shoulder chamfers, bind off the central 24 sts for neck-hole at 34 cm height and after that finish each side separately.

Right Front

Cast on 52 sts + 2 selvage sts with blue yarn and make 2.5 cm of 1 x 1 rib. After that, work with stockinette stitch, alternating the colors in the same way as for back. At 17 cm height from the beginning of work, make 2 button-holes, bind off 4 sts. At 20 cm height from the lower row, bind off 4 sts from the left side for arm-hole, and then 1 x 2 sts and 1 x 1 st in every 2^nd row = 47 sts. After that, knit straight. At 27 cm height from the lower row, make 2 button-holes in the same way as the previous ones. At 29.5 cm height from the beginning of work, bind off 17 sts from the right side, then, 1 x 4 sts, 1 x 3 sts, 1 x 2 sts, 1 x 1 st in every 2^nd row = 20 sts. At 34 cm from the beginning of work, bind off 7 sts for shoulder chamfer and then 1 x 7 sts and 1 x 6 sts in every 2^nd row.

Left Front

Make in symmetry, but without button-holes.

Sleeves

Cast on 40 sts + 2 selvage sts with blue yarn and make 2.5 cm of 1 x 1 rib. Increase 10 sts in the last row = 52 sts. After that, work with stockinette stitch, alternating the stripes in the same way as for back. At the same time, increase 5 x 1 st in every 8^th row from both sides for sleeve chamfers = 62 sts. At 23.5 cm height from the beginning of work, bind off 4 sts from both sides for sleeve caps and bind off 3 x 3 sts and 1 x 2 sts in every 2^nd row. At 27.5 cm height, bind off the rest 32 sts straight.

Collar

Cast on 108 sts + 2 selvage sts with blue yarn and work with 1 x 1 rib, decrease 6 x 2 sts and 2 x 3 sts, 1 x 4 sts in every 2^nd row from both sides. Bind off the rest sts.

Assembly

Make shoulder, side, and sleeve seams. Sew up sleeves. Sew collar along neck-hole. Sew buttons.
