How to Knit a Violet-Pink Mélange Baby Garment

You’ll Need:

150g of thin violet-pink mélange yarn (100% cotton; 165m/50g);

Knitting needles 3.5 and 4;

3 violet buttons.

The quantity of stitches is a multiple of 8 + 7 + 2 selvage stitches. Work according to the scheme, on which both right-side (RS) and wrong-side (WS) rows are stated.

Stitches Control:

Main pattern: 24 stitches x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Back

Cast on 65 stitches with knitting needles 4 and make 4 rows of garter stitch. Continue with the main pattern. In 18 cm from the set-up row, bind off 7 stitches from both sides for armholes = 51 stitches. At 29 cm height from the set-up row, bind off all the stitches.

Right Front

Cast on 33 stitches with knitting needles 4, make 4 rows of garter stitch, and continue with the main pattern. In 18 cm from the set-up row, bind off 7 stitches from the left side for the armhole = 26 stitches. In 24 cm from the set-up row, bind off 14 stitches from the right side for the neck-hole and continue making 12 stitches of shoulder. In 29 cm from the set-up row, bind off the stitches.

Left Front

Make in symmetry to the right front.

Sleeves

Cast on 49 stitches with knitting needles 4, make 4 rows of garter stitch, and continue with the main pattern. At 3 cm height, bind off 2 x 7 stitches in every 2^nd row from both sides and the rest 21 stitches. Total height is 5 cm.

Assembly

Make shoulder, side, and sleeve seams; sew up the sleeves. Cast on 56 stitches along the neck-hole with knitting needles 3.5, make 4 rows of garter stitch, and bind off the stitches. Cast on 50 stitches along the edges of the front, including neck-hole plackets with knitting needles 3.5, make 4 rows of garter stitch, and bind off all the stitches. Make 3 hanging loops on the right front. Sew on the buttons.
