How to Knit a Stylish Sweater with Mondial Merino Sprint Yarn


You’ll Need
500g of light-burgundy color Mondial Merino Sprint yarn (50% wool, 50% acryl; 190m/100g);
Knitting needles 4 and 4.5;
Auxiliary needle.

Used Patterns
Double Rib
Cast on half of the needed quantity of stitches with contrast yarn;
1st row: main yarn: * 1 knit stitch, 1 yarn over*; repeat from * to *;
2nd row: * yarn over as knit stitch, slip 1 stitch as purl without knitting, yarn in front of work*; repeat from * to *;
3rd and last rows: * 1 knit stitch, slip 1 stitch as purl, yarn in front of work*; repeat from * to *, take off the contrast yarn.
Stockinette Stitch
In RS row – knit stitches, in WS row – purls;
Wrong side: in RS row – purls, in WS row – knit stitches;
2 x 2 Rib
Cable (8 sts Wide)
1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th rows: knit;
2nd and all the even rows: purl;
9th row: cross 8 stitches to the left (leave 4 stitches on the auxiliary needle in front of work, 4 knit stitches, 4 knit stitches from the auxiliary needle).
Repeat 1st-10th rows.
Stitches Control
Alternation of 8 stitches of stockinette stitch and 2 stitches of wrong-side pattern, knitting needles 4.5: 18 stitches x 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Instructions
Back
Cast on 82 stitches with knitting needles 4 and make 6 rows with double rib and 56 rows with 2 x 2 rib, start and finish with 2 purls. In the next row (RS), make the holes in the following way: 2 purls, 2 knit stitches, 1 yarn over, purl2tog, * 2 knit stitches, 2 purls, 2 knit stitches, 1 yarn over, purl2tog*; repeat from * to * 8 times, 2 knit stitches, 2 purls. Next row (WS): 2 knit stitches, * 2 purls, 2 knit stitches*; repeat from * to * to the end of row. Make 2 rows of 2 x 2 rib (totally, 2 cm from the row with holes), then, turn to knitting needles 4.5 and knit in the following way: 2 stitches of wrong-side pattern, 8 stitches of stockinette stitch, 2 stitches of wrong-side pattern, 8 stitches of stockinette stitch, 2 stitches of wrong-side pattern*; repeat from * to * 3 times, 8 stitches of cable, 2 stitches of wrong-side pattern, 8 stitches of stockinette stitch, 2 stitches of wrong-side pattern. In 50 cm from 2 x 2 rib, bind off 23 stitches for each shoulder and 36 stitches for neck-hole.
Front
Make in the same way as back, but in 24 cm from 2 x 2 rib, bind off the central 32 stitches for the neck-hole and finish both sides separately, bind off 2 x 1 stitch in every 14th row from both sides of the center. In 26 cm from the beginning of neck-hole, bind off the rest 23 stitches for each shoulder.
Arm-Hole Placket
Cast on 100 stitches with knitting needles 4 and make 14 rows with 2 x 2 rib, start with 1 purl and 2 knit stitches and finish with 2 knit stitches and 1 purl, then, 6 rows of double rib and bind off all the stitches.
Left Half of Collar
Cast on 18 stitches with knitting needles 4 and work with 2 x 2 rib, start with 2 knit stitches, cast in 5 x 4 stitches and 18 x 2 stitches in every 2nd row from the left side; include the increased stitches in the pattern. In 18 cm from the set-up row, make 6 rows of double rib and bind off all the stitches.
Right Half of Collar
Make in symmetry to the left half.
Belt
Cast on 4 stitches with short knitting needles and make 1 row of knit stitches. When all the stitches are on the right-hand needle, move them to the further end of needle, don’t turn, take the right-hand needle in the left hand, yarn behind work and make the next row with knit stitches from right to left. Continue work in the same way, in 150 cm from the set-up row, bind off all the stitches.
Assembly
Make shoulder seams. Make side seams, don’t sew the upper seams (from shoulder seam) on 20 cm for arm-holes. Sew the arm-hole plackets in the ring and sew them to the arm-holes. Sew both halves of collar together and sew it to the neck-hole. Insert the belt in the special holes.
