How to Knit Thumb Gusset of Knit Cable Fingerless Gloves

Use 4 mm knitting needles. Put gusset stitches back on the 2 DP needles. Knit all 10 stitches. Using one more DP needle, pick up and knit at the same time 5 more stitches at the base of the thumb. Knit 5-6 rounds, at the last round make 1 decrease to have a total of 14 stitches, then switch to the 3 mm knitting needles and rib k1, p1 for 3 more rounds. Bind off.

Right Glove

The main idea is the same. I will only show you rounds with small distinctions.

  • Round 7: p1, k6, C6B, p1, k22.
  • Round 13: p1, C6F, k6, p1, k22. Continue alternating C6B and C6F to get symmetrically viewed gloves.
  • Round 49: p1, C6F, k6, p1, k5, yoR, k15. Continue all other rounds with yoR.
