Knitting Instructions for a Stylish Garment

You’ll Need:

300 (350) 400g of Organico (100% cotton, 90m/50g);

200 (250) 250g of grey and olive Secondo yarn (50% cotton, 30% polyamide, 20% silk; 125m/50g);

Knitting needles 4 and 5.5;

Crochet hook 4;

5 buttons.

Note:

Work with 2 threads of yarn: 1 grey and 1 olive yarn together.

Used Patterns

Pattern of Slipped Stitches

The quantity of stitches is odd. Start and finish every row with 1 selvage stitch. Make selvage stitch in RS row as knit stitch, in WS row as purl.

1^st Row, Secondo: * 1 knit stitch, slip 1 purl, yarn in front of work*; repeat from * to *;

2^nd Row, Secondo: * slip 1 purl, yarn behind work, 1 purl*; repeat from * to *, 1 purl;

3^rd Row, Organico: as the 1^st row.

4^th Row, Organico: as the 2^nd row.

Repeat 1^st-4^th rows.

Stitches Control:

21.5 stitches x 34.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions

Back

Cast on 99 (107) 115 stitches with knitting needles 4 and Organico yarn and make 1 WS row of knit stitches (don’t take this row into account). Then, change to knitting needles 5.5 and work with the pattern of slipped stitches.

In 10 cm = 34 rows from the set-up row, bind off 1 stitch from both sides for better fitting and 5 x 1 stitch in every 8^th row = 87 (95) 103 stitches. In 27 cm = 94 rows from the set-up row, increase 1 stitch from both sides, 3 x 1 stitch in every 6^th row and 2 x 1 stitch in every 4^th row = 99 (107) 115 stitches, include the increased stitches in the pattern.

In 36 cm = 124 rows from the set-up row, bind off 10 stitches from both sides for arm-holes = 79 (87) 95 stitches. In 53.5 cm = 184 rows (55.5 cm = 192 rows) 58 cm = 200 rows from the set-up row, bind off the central 23 (27) 31 stitches and finish both sides separately. For smooth rounding, bind off 2 x 5 stitches in every 2^nd row. In 55 cm = 190 rows (57 cm = 198 rows) 59.5 cm = 206 rows from the set-up row, bind off the rest 18 (20) 22 stitches of shoulder from each side.

Left Front

Cast on 51 (55) 59 stitches with knitting needles 4 and Organico yarn and make 1 WS row of knit stitches. Then, change to knitting needles 5.5 and work with the pattern of slipped stitches. Make fitting for arm-hole from the right side in the same way as for back = 41 (45) 49 stitches.

In 46.5 cm = 160 rows (48.5 cm = 168 rows) 51 cm = 176 rows from the set-up row, bind off 4 (6) 6 stitches for neck-hole from the left side and 1 x 4 (4) 6 stitches, 7 x 2 stitches and 1 x 1 stitch in every 2^nd row. Bind off the rest 18 (20) 22 stitches of shoulder at the height of back.

Right Front

Make in symmetry to the left front with 5 button-holes.

Sleeves

Cast on 53 (61) 69 stitches with knitting needles 4 and Organico yarn and make 1 WS row of knit stitches. Then, change to knitting needles 5.5 and work with the pattern of slipped stitches. At the same time, increase 14 x 1 stitch in every 8^th row from the set-up row = 81 (89) 97 stitches, include the increased stitches in the pattern. In 37 cm = 128 rows from the set-up row, bind off all the stitches.

Pocket

Make 2. Cast on 11 stitches with knitting needles 4 and Organico yarn and work with the pattern of slipped stitches and knitting needles 5.5. At the same time, increase 2 x 2 stitches and 2 x 1 stitch in every 2^nd row from both sides = 23 stitches, include the increased stitches in the pattern.

In 11.5 cm = 40 rows from the set-up row, bind off all the stitches. Fasten all the pockets with 1 circle row of slip stitches and Organico yarn and 1 circle row of “shrimp stitch”.

Assembly

Make shoulder seams. Sew up the sleeves, make side and sleeve seams. Fasten the neck-hole with Organico yarn. Sew pockets and buttons.
