Stockinette Stitch: in RS row – knit sts, in WS row – purls;

Wrong-side Pattern: in RS row – purls, in WS row – knit sts;

Pattern of Cables 1: the quantity of sts is multiple 7 + 1 + 2 selvage sts. Work according to scheme 1, where only RS rows are stated, and make WS rows according to the pattern. Start with 1 selvage st, pattern repeat, finish with st after pattern repeat and 1 selvage st. Repeat 1st-8th rows.

Pattern of Cables 2: the quantity of sts is multiple 14 + 8 + 2 selvage sts. Make in the same way as pattern of cables 1, but according to scheme 2. Repeat 1st-12th rows.

Stitches Control:

  • Patterns of Cables: 17.5 sts x 21 rows = 10 x 10 cm;
  • Stockinette Stitch: 15 sts x 21 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions:

Back:

Cast on 80 (94) sts with criss-cross method and make 14 cm of pattern of cables 1 and 2 rows of wrong-side pattern for the placket. Then, work with pattern for cables 2. In 20 cm from the placket, bind off 2 sts from both sides for arm-holes and 1 x 2 sts, 3 x 1 st in every 2nd row = 66 (80) sts. In 42 (44) cm from the placket, bind off all the sts.

Left Front:

Cast on 38 (45) sts with criss-cross method and work in the same way as back. Start the pattern of cables with the 7th row; for size M, repeat the pattern 3 times and finish with 1 st after pattern repeat + 1 selvage st. In 16 (18) cm from the placket, bind off 4 x 1 st in every 2nd row and 3 x 1 st in every 4th row from the left side for chamfer. Make decreases for arm-hole from the right side in the same way as for back. Bind off the remaining 24 (31) sts of the shoulder at the same height as the back.

Right Front:

Make in symmetry to the left front.

Sleeves:

Cast on 43 (49) sts with criss-cross method and work as follows: 1 selvage st, 6 (9) sts of stockinette stitch, 8 sts of pattern of cables 1 from the 7th row, 6 sts of pattern of cables 2 from arrow to arrow and from the 7th row, 1 st of wrong-side pattern, 6 sts of pattern of cables 2, 8 sts of pattern of cables 1, 6 (9) sts of stockinette stitch, 1 selvage st. In 15 cm from the set-up row, increase 1 st for sleeve chamfers from both sides and 5 x 1 st of stockinette stitch in every 12th row = 55 (61) sts. In 49 cm from the set-up row, bind off 3 sts from both sides for sleeve caps, 6 x 1 st in every 2nd row, 2 x 1 st in every 4th row, 3 x 1 st and 2 x 2 sts in every 2nd row. In 65 cm from the set-up row, bind off the remainder of 19 (25) sts.

Assembly:

Make all the seams; cast on 48 sts along the edges of the front, 114 sts along the neck-hole line and work with rib, starting with 1 selvage st and 1 st of wrong-side pattern. In 2 rows, leave 48 sts of front and the central 114 sts with shortened rows. For this, leave 9 x 4 sts in every 2nd row from both sides, turning with yarn over every time. At 6 cm height of the collar, knit on all the sts, knit yarn overs together with the previous or next st as knit2tog and work on the central 114 sts in every stripe of purls from crossed yarn = 239 sts. At the same time, at 2.5 cm height of the placket, make 4 button-holes. Make 1 hole in 7 (9) cm from the bottom. Sew buttons. Sew up the sleeves.
