Crocheting Baby Booties with Lace Cuff: A Step-by-Step Guide

You’ll need:

Lightweight Baby Yarn in cream and bright teal colors;

Crochet hook 4 mm.

Instructions

Shoe Sole

Round 1: Using cream or teal color yarn, Ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in next 7 chs, then 5 sc in last ch. Working back from the other side of your chain, 1 sc in next 7 chs, 2 sc in last ch.

Round 2: Ch 2, hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 7 sts, 2 hdc in next 5 sts, 1 hdc in next 7 sts, 2 hdc in last 2 sts. Sl st to beg ch-2. (30 sts total)

Round 3: Ch 2, hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 12 sts, 2 hdc in next 3 sts, 1 hdc in next 12 sts, 2 hdc in last 2 sts. Sl st to beg ch-2. (36 sts total) If you used cream color for sole, tie off. If you used teal color for sole, continue on to Round 4 with same color.

Bootie

Now you will start to work in actual rounds, as in, you will no longer sl st at the end of each row and begin a new row. Once you come to the end of a round, you will make your next st on top of the st from the previous round in a continuous manner. It is helpful to use a stitch marker to help you mark the beginning of each round. Use a safety pin.

Round 4: With teal color yarn, Ch 2, 1 hdc all around. (36 sts total)

Round 5: 1 hdc in each st all around (36 sts total)

Round 6: 1 hdc in next 12 sts, dc2tog 6 times, 1 hdc in last 12 sts (30 sts total)

Round 7: 1 sc in next 12 sts, dc2tog 4 times, 1 sc in last 11 sts. (28 sts total)

Round 8: dec 1, 1 sc in next 10 sts, dc2tog 2 times, 1 sc in next 10 sts, dec 1 (26 sts total)

Round 9-11: 1 hdc in each st all around (26 sts total)

Lace Cuff

Round 12-13: Change to cream color yarn, 1 hdc in each st all around (26 sts total)

Round 14: *Ch 4, sk 1, sc in next st* Repeat * all around, sl st to beg ch and tie off.
