Complete Guide to Crocheting Adorable Booties: Patterns, Instructions and Techniques

You’ll Need:

Worsted Weight Yarn in Green and Orange colors;

Crochet hook 3.75 mm.

Abbreviations

  • CH: Chain
  • DC: Double Crochet

Instructions

With green yarn for the sole of the bootie.

Row 1: Ch 11, 2 sc in 2nd st from hook. 1 sc in next 8 sts, 4 sc in last st, (working down other side of chain) 1 sc in next 8 sts, 2 sc in last st, sl st to join. (24 total stitches)

Row 2: Ch 2, 3 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 9 sts, 3 hdc in next st, hdc in next st, 3 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next 9 sts, 3 hdc in last st, sl st in top of ch 2. (32 total stitches)

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in next st, 2 sc in next 2 sts, 1 sc in next 5 sts, 1 hdc in next 5 sts, 2 hdc in next 2 sts, 1 hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next 2 sts, 1 hdc in next 5 sts, 1 sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in last 2 sts, Join with sl st in ch 1. (40 total stitches). Change color.

With orange yarn for the top of the bootie.

Row 4: Ch 2, 1 hdc in front loop only of each st around. (This will make a ridge for the sole of the bootie) Sl st top of ch 2. (40 total stitches)

Row 5: Ch 2, fphdc in next st, bphdc in next st, alternate between fphdc and bphdc around, sl st in top of ch 2 to join. (40 total stitches)

Row 6: Ch 1, fpsc in next st, bpsc in next st, 1 fpsc2tog, *fpsc in next st, bpsc in next st (*4x total), fpbphdc2tog in next st, *fpbpdc2tog in next st (*repeat 4 more times – total of 5 all together), fpbphdc2tog in next st, *fpsc in next st, bpsc in next st (4x total), fpbpsc2tog in next st, fpsc in next st, bpsc in next st, fpsc in next st, sl st in ch 1 to join. (31 total stitches)

Row 7: Ch 1, 1 sc in the next 12 sts, *bpdctog in the next st – Only crochet in BP. This will keep the pumpkin ridge consistent. (*repeat 2 more times), 1 sc in the next 12 sts, join with sl st in ch 1. Fasten off. (28 total stitches)

Vine – in Green

Left Bootie

Ch 11, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 sc in each of the next 9 chains. To join to Row 7 of the bootie, sl st into the first sc to the right of the last fpdc2tog of Row 7 (they are the three center stitches), ch 11, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 sc in each of the next 9 chains, sl st in next sc from Row 7, sc around, sl st into first into sl st to join.

Fasten off.

Right Bootie

Ch 11, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 sc in each of the next 9 chains. To join to Row 7 of the bootie, sl st into the first sc to the left of the first fpdc2tog of Row 7 (they are the three center stitches), ch 11, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 sc in each of the next 9 chains, sl st in next sc from Row 7, sc around, sl st into first into sl st to join.

Fasten off.
