Complete Guide to Crocheting a Stylish Top with Motifs and Patterns

Materials Needed

You'll need:

  • 7 skeins of yarn (50% cotton, 45% acrylic, 5% viscose; 115 meters per 50 grams);
  • Crochet hook (size 3-3.5).

Size

Size: S.

The work consists of several parts:

Motifs

  • Motif 1 (x 2)

    : 6 chain sts, slip st, then follow scheme 1;

  • Motif 2 (x 4 for chest, x 5 for back, x 2 for sleeves)

    : 6 chain sts, slip st, then follow scheme 2;

  • Motif 3 (x 4)

    : 6 chain sts, slip st, then follow scheme 3;

  • Motif 4 (x 1)

    : 7 chain sts, slip st, scheme 4, half of motif is stated on the scheme;

  • Motif 5 (x 3)

    : 6 chain sts, slip st, scheme 5;

  • Motif 6 (x 2)

    : 6 chain sts, slip st, scheme 6;

  • Motif 8 (x 1)

    : 39 chain sts, slip st, scheme 8.

Instructions

Back

Make a chain of chain sts 40 cm long, then create a net pattern. Allocate 5 Motifs 2 on the back part of the work, reaching a height of 43 cm.

Front

Create Motif 8, and add 2 rows of net pattern along the two long parts of the motif. Connect motifs as per the scheme.

Sleeves

Make a chain of chain sts 14 cm long, followed by 4 cm of net pattern. Connect 1 Motif 2, continue with net. Increase 1 section of chain sts from both sides every 4 rows. Finish at 39 cm. Make the second sleeve in the same way.

Assembly

Sew the sides 30 cm from each, leaving 13 cm for armholes. Sew the sleeves to create a cut on the shoulder. Crochet according to scheme 7 along the sleeve, neck-hole, and the second sleeve from each side. Leave the lower 20 cm for each sleeve, connecting the rest part during the last row of one of the sides as per scheme 7.
