Foundation Chain Instructions

Start by making a foundation chain in multiples of 3, plus 2 and 1 stitch for the foundation chain.

For example: ch 15 + 2 + 1 = 18 chains

Row Instructions

Row 1

Identify the 4th chain from the hook, and place 1 double crochet (dc) stitch in the 4th chain (st) from the hook; chain 1; place 1 double crochet in the next chain stitch.

*Skip a chain stitch, place 1 double crochet in the next chain stitch; chain 1, place 1 double crochet in the next chain stitch; repeat from * to the end of the row. Place 1 double crochet (dc) stitch in the final stitch of the row.

*Repeat across the chain; *sk st; dc in the next chain, ch 1, 1 dc in next; repeat from * across to the end of the row with dc, ch 3; tw.

Chain (ch.) 3, turn your work.

Row 2

Skip the first 2 dc, place *[1 dc, ch, 1 dc] in the ch space, sk 2 dc; repeat from * to the last dc, skip the last dc, and place 1 dc in the turning chain.

Note: The last stitch will be a double crochet stitch, worked into a turning chain.

Row 2 is the repeating row for the pattern. You will continue following the steps from row 2 to complete the pattern.
