Create Your Own Stylish Crochet Cross Stitch Hat: Step-By-Step Guide for All Sizes

Create a stylish hat using the technique of crochet cross stitch. This unique method combines the traditional art of crochet with the intricate detail of cross stitch, resulting in a beautiful and eye-catching accessory. By following a pattern that incorporates both crochet stitches and cross stitch designs, you can create a one-of-a-kind hat that showcases your creativity and skill.

The combination of textures and colors in crochet cross stitch adds depth and dimension to the finished piece, making it a standout addition to your wardrobe. Whether you're a seasoned crocheter looking to try something new or a beginner eager to learn a new technique, crochet cross stitch hats are a fun and creative project to take on.

Sizes

Women’s small, medium and large.

Gauge

First 3 rounds = 4 inches (measure after round 4).

Materials

  • Worsted weight cotton yarn approximately 3 to 4 ounces.
  • Size US I (5.5 mm) and H (5.0 mm) crochet hooks for medium and large.
  • Size US H (5.0mm) crochet hooks for small.
  • Tapestry needle.

Special Stitches

Dc Cross Stitch = Skip one stitch, double crochet in next stitch. From behind, double crochet in skipped stitch.

Notes

  1. Read instructions all the way through before beginning.
  2. Don’t use “soft” yarn, unless you want a floppy brim.
  3. For the smaller size, work with the H hook; for medium size, use the I. To make a women’s large, see the instructions at the bottom of the small/medium instructions.
  4. Ch 2 and ch 1 at beginning of rounds do not count as the first stitch of the round.
  5. Pull joining slip stitches tight.
