  • Sport weight cotton yarn, size 2 - fine. I used Drops Safran 100% cotton yarn - ball weight: 50g length: 160m. 8 grams (approx. 26 meters) of yarn needed for this pattern.
  • 3mm crochet hook.
  • Scissors.
  • Yarn needle or Latch hook for weaving in ends. Or, you can use a crochet hook.

Abbreviations (US Terms)

  • sk - skip
  • sp. - space
  • st. / sts - stitch / stitches
  • ch - chain
  • sl st. - slip stitch
  • sc - single crochet
  • dc - double crochet
  • ch3picot - ch3, insert your hook into the center of the base stitch (or, insert the hook into first ch made), yarn over, pull through all loops on the hook.

Instructions

Start with ch5 and join with a sl st. into first ch to form a ring. Or, you can make a magic (adjustable) ring.

Round 1

ch2 (doesn't count as a st.), 16dc into ring.
Join with a sl st. into first dc st. (16 dc sts)

Round 2

ch2 (doesn't count as a st.), 2dc into same st.,
2dc into each of next 15 sts.
Join with a sl st. into first dc st. (32 dc sts)

Round 3

ch2 (doesn't count as a st.), 1dc into same st., 2dc into next st.,
(1dc into next st., 2dc into next st.)* repeat 15 times around.
Join with a sl st. into first dc st. (48 dc sts)

Round 4

ch5 (counts as 1dc + ch2),
(sk next st., 1dc into next st., ch2)* repeat 23 times around.
Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch5.

Round 5

sl st. into next ch2 sp., ch3 (counts as 1dc), (1dc, ch2, 2dc, ch1) into same ch2 sp.,
(sk next st., sk next ch2, sk next st., (2dc, ch2, 2dc, ch1) into next ch2 sp.)* repeat 11 times around.
Join with a sl st. into 3rd ch of beginning ch3.

Round 6
