Coaster Rnds 1-4 = 5" across.

Coaster Instructions
Rnd 1: With MC, ch 3, sl st in first ch to form ring; ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), 13 dc in ring; join with sl st to first dc. (14 dc)
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in first dc, 2 dc in each dc around; join with sl st to first dc. (28 dc)
Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in first dc, dc in next dc, (2 dc in next sp, dc in next sp) around; join with sl st to first dc. (42 dc) Finish off and weave in ends.
Rnd 4: Join CC to any dc with sc, picot, (skip next dc, sc in next dc, picot) around; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends.
Snowflake Instructions
Rnd 1: With CC, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook; join with sl st to first sc. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in first sc, ch 3, (sc in next sc, ch 3) around; join with sl st in first sc. (6 sc, 6 ch-3 lps)
Rnd 3: Sl st in ch-3 lp, ch 1, sc in same ch-3 lp, picot, (ch 1, picot) twice, (sc in next ch-3 sp, picot, ch 1, picot, ch 1, picot) around; join with sl st in first sc. Finish off leaving long end.
