hdc = half double crochet
sk = skip
dc = double crochet
Crochet Butterfly Appliqué Pattern
Body:
Starting with Color A (Body color), ch 10, starting in the 3rd ch from the hook, hdc 8, fasten off
Wings:
Color B (Wing Color)
Left wing:
Row 1: join wing color to body in 7th hdc, ch 2, hdc 2 in the same st, hdc 4, hdc 2 in next st
Row 2: Ch 2, turn, hdc 2 in the same st, hdc 6, hdc 2 in next st
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc 1, sk 1, 5 dc in next st, sk 1, sc 1, sc 1, sk 1, 5 dc in next st, sk 1, sc 1, fasten off
Right Wing:
Row 1: join wing color to body in 2nd hdc, ch 2, hdc 2 in the same st, hdc 4, hdc 2 in next st
Repeat Rows 2-3 from the left wing, fasten off
If you’d like to add some antennae, trim the yarn ends on the side with two to be the length you’d like. Alternatively, if you are sewing it onto something, you can do two stitches on one of the ends.
