Hook: 4mm/G

Yarn: Small amounts of any color yarn. I used RED HEART® “Super Saver®”

  • 316 Soft White – COLOR A
  • 722 Pretty ‘N Pink – COLOR B
  • 1701 Hot Pink – COLOR C
  • 324 Bright Yellow – COLOR D

Instructions

Cake

Worked from bottom to top.

Foundation Round: With color A, ch 7.

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook (beginning ch counts as first sc), sc in each of next 5 ch, turn – 7 sc (including beginning ch in the count)

Row 2: ch 1 (consider as first sc here and throughout), skip first sc, sc in each of next 5 sc, turn – 6 sc

Row 3: ch 1, skip first sc, sc in each of next 4 sc, sc in top of turning ch, turn – 6 sc

Row 4: ch 1, working FL’s only this row, skip first sc, sc in each of next 4 sc, sc in top of turning ch, turn – 6 sc

Row 5: repeat row 3, sl st, fasten off. Weave in ends.

Decoration

Working the loops from row 4, turn the cake upside down and join B in first loop.

*ch 3, sl st in next loop, rep from * 4 more times, sl st, fasten off. Hide ends.

Candle

Join color C to 3rd sc from last row of Cake pattern.

Working in BL’s only this row, sc in same space as join, sc in next sc, turn – 2 sc

Row 2: ch 1, (consider as first sc here and throughout), skip first sc, sc in next sc, turn – 2 sc

Row 3: ch 1, skip first sc, sc in next sc, switch to D in last st, turn – 2 sc

Row 4: ch 1, sc in first sc, sc in next sc, sc in top of turning ch, turn – 3 sc

ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, skip first and second sc, sl st in turning ch. Fasten off. Hide ends.
