Directions

Start with A, 7 ch, join with a sl st in the first one.

Step 1

3 ch, dc in lp, 2 ch, (cluster, 2 ch) 11 times in lp. sl st in 3rd ch. => 12 clusters.

Step 2

1 ch, *sc in next sp, 9 ch, sc in same sp, 5 ch, sc in next sp, 5 ch*. Repeat * to * 3 times again substituting last 5 ch with 2 ch, dc in first sc. Change to B. => 12 sps.

Step 3

ch, sc, *(7 dc, 3 ch, 7 dc) in 9 ch sp, sc in next 5-ch sp, 5 ch, sc in next 5-ch sp. Repeat * to * 3 times again substituting last 5 ch with 2 ch, dc in first sc. Change to C.

Step 4

4 ch, tr in same sp, 7 ch, *(sc, 4 ch, sc) in next 3-ch sp (corner), 7 ch, 3 tr in next 5-ch sp, 7 ch*. Repeat * to * twice again, finish with (sc, 4 ch, sc) in next 3-ch sp, 7 ch, tr in next 5-ch sp, join with sl st in 4th ch.

Step 5

7 sc in each 7-ch sp, sc in each tr, 4 sc in each corner sp; join with sl st in first st, changing to A.

Step 6

sc in each st and sp around, doing 3 sc in each corner sc. Cut yarn, weave in ends.

Notes

  • Always substitute (also if not explicitly said) first st in a row as follows:
    • first sc with 1 ch, sc;
    • first hdc with 2 ch;
    • first dc with 3 ch;
    • first tr with 4 ch...and so on.
  • When you read "sl st to <location>", where the location is not immediately contiguous to the last st, this means of course "an appropriate number of sl sts for reaching <location>".
