Materials Needed

  • Size 10 crochet cotton. Caron Grandma's Best 100% Mercerized Cotton in Cotton Candy was used in the example.
  • Size 7 steel crochet hook
  • 348 E Beads in color of choice. Mainstays Crafts Candy Colored Glass E Beads were used in the example
  • Tapestry needle that fits through beads
  • 1 Small Mouth Canning jar or empty clean mayonnaise jar filled with goodies.
  • .25" wide satin ribbon 24" long. In pink or desired color

Yarn and Project Specifications

  • Yarn Thickness: 10 thread
  • Gauge: 8 sc = 1"
  • Finished Size: 6.5" in diameter before putting in ribbon.
  • Skill Level: Beginner to intermediate for those with experience with beads

Instructions

String all 348 beads onto thread in random order.

RND 1: Ch 4. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch 3. 11 dc in ring. Join w/slst to top of ch 3.

RND 2: Ch 3. Bring up a bead, ch 1. *Dc in next dc. Bring up a bead. Ch 1. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch 3.

RND 3: Ch 3. 2 dc in same st as slst. Ch 1. *3 dc in next dc. Ch 1. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch 3.

RND 4: Ch 3. (Bring up a bead, ch 1. Sk next dc. Dc in next dc. Bring up a bead, ch 1.) *Dc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch 3.

RND 5: Ch 3. 2 dc in same st as slst. 3 dc in each dc around. Join w/slst to top of ch 3.

RND 6: Rep RND 4.

RND 7: Ch 3, dc in same st as slst. 2 dc in each dc around. Join w/slst to top of ch 3.

RND 8: Ch 3. Bring up a bead, ch 1. Sk next dc. *Dc in next dc. Bring up a bead, ch 1. Sk next dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch 3.

RND 9: Rep RND 5.

RND 10: Ch 4. Sk 1 st. *Dc in next st. Ch 1. Sk 1 st. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch 4.

RND 11: Rep RND 5.

RND 12: Rep RND 10.

RND 13: Slst to the first ch 1 sp. Ch 1, beaded sc in same sp. Work the following in the next ch 1 sp. 2 dc, bring up 3 beads, ch 1, 2 dc. *Beaded sc in next ch 1 sp. 2 dc, 3 beads, ch 1, 2 dc in next ch 1 sp. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch 1. Fasten off and weave all ends into back of work.

Finishing Touches

Weave ribbon through RND 10 and place over cover of jar. Draw up ends of ribbon tight and tie into a bow. Adjust ruffles as needed.

NOTE: The beads in the jar are made of paper!
