Supplies Needed for Your Easy Mason Jar Cozy

- Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton in “Ecru” 75 yds and “Lilac” 25 yds

- US G hook {Furls are my favorite}

- Yarn needle

- Large Mason Jar

8 Ps = 4” 9 Rows = 4”

Abbreviations Used: {US Terms}

  • Rnd = round
  • MR = magic ring
  • MC = main color
  • CC = contrasting color
  • ch = chain
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • Inc = increase {2 hdc in st}
  • Dec = decrease {hdc 2 sts tog}
  • BL = back loops
  • sk = skip
  • ch 1-sp = chain 1 space
  • yo = yarn over
  • st = stitch
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • Ps = pineapple cluster stitch
  • HBhdc = herringbone half double crochet

Special Stitches

Ps (Pineapple Cluster Stitch) = *yo, insert hook in st, yo, pull through* Repeat between * 3 times, yo, pull through the first 8 loops on your hook, yo, pull through the 2 remaining loops on the hook. Make sure you keep loops loose so you can pull through 8 easily.

HBhdc (Herringbone Hdc) = yo, insert hook in st, yo, pull through st and first loop on hook, yo, pull through remaining 2 loops.

Notes

  • ch 2 and ch 3 do not count as stitches.
  • To adjust this to your mason jar, crochet the bottom circle until it is the same size as the bottom of your jar.
  • Rounds 1-7 are worked in back loops only.

Cozy Instructions

Work rnds 1-7 in BL only.

Rnd 1: With MC, using MR, 8 hdc in ring, join with sl st in first st [8]

Rnd 2: ch 2, Inc each st around, join [16]

Rnd 3: ch 3, *hdc next st, Inc next st; rep from * around, join [24]

Rnd 4: ch 3, *hdc next 2 sts, Inc next st; rep from * around, join [32]

Rnd 5: ch 3, *hdc next 3 sts, Inc next st; rep from * around, join [40]

Rnd 6: ch 3, *hdc next 4 sts, Inc next st; rep from * around, join [48]

Rnd 7: ch 2, HBhdc each st around, join [48]

Rnds 8-10: ch 2, HBhdc each st around, join, change to CC at end of rnd 10 [48]

Rnd 11: ch 3, Ps in same st, ch 1, sk next st, *(Ps, ch 1) next st, sk next st; rep from * around, join in 1st st [24 Ps, 24 ch 1-sp]

Rnd 12: ch 3, (Ps, ch 1) in each ch 1-sp around, join, changing to MC. [24 Ps, 24 ch 1-sp]

Rnd 13: ch 2, HBhdc in each Ps and ch 1-sp around, join [48]

Rnds 14-16: ch 2, HBhdc each st around, join, changing to CC at end of row 16 [48]

Rnd 17: ch 3, Ps in same st, ch 1, sk next st, *(Ps, ch 1) next st, sk next st; rep from * around, join in 1st st [24 Ps, 24 ch 1-sp]

Rnd 18: ch 3, (Ps, ch 1) in each ch 1-sp around, join, changing to MC. [24 Ps, 24 ch 1-sp]

Rnd 19: ch 2, HBhdc each Ps and ch 1-sp around, join [48]

Rnd 20: ch 2, HBhdc each st around, join [48]

Rnd 21: ch 2, *HBhdc next 4 sts, Dec next; rep from * around, join [40]

At this point, place the mason jar inside the cozy before doing the last rnd.

Rnd 23: ch 1, sl st each st around, join [32] Fasten off. Weave in ends.
