Materials Used

I used: 4.5 mm hook

Willow Burrow worsted and Baby Bernat Light 3 yarn

Instructions

Round Instructions

Round 1:
Ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook.(6 sc)

Round 2:
Sc to join(mnr). Sc in same st. 2 sc in ea st around.(12 sc)

Round 3:
Sc to join(mnr) Sc in same st. *Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st.* Repeat from * to * around.(18 sc)

Round 4:
Sc to join(mnr) Sc in same st. *Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st.* Repeat from * to * around.(24 sc)

Round 5:
Ss to join.(mnr) (hdc, dc, hdc) all in next back loop, ss in next 5 sts, 2 hdc in next st, sc in next 3 sts.

Nose Instructions

Row 1: Ch 1, turn, sc in next 4 sts.
Row 2: Turn, sc in next 2 sts tog, sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts tog(turning work, using side post as 1 part), sc in next post, ss to join, (you should be working round 5 again). Ss in next 3 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 3 sts, hdc in next 2 sts.

Neck Instructions

Row 1: Ch 2. Turn, hdc in next 5 sts, 2 hdc in next 2 sts.
Row 2: Ch 2. Turn. Hdc in next 7 sts, 2 hdc in last st, turn work so that you are working along the 'mane', ss to round marker.(hdc, dc, hdc) all in next front loop, ss into next fl to join. Fasten off.

Finishing Touches

Cut approx. 25 pieces of Pink (Baby Bernat Light 3) at approx. 4 inches each. Attach to the horse's mane using a lark's knot with 2 pieces at a time, placing in each ss along the mane, and a few between the ears (bangs). Trim to desired length.

I then added pink sparkly puffy fabric paint in the ears, for the nostril, mouth, and jawline (pushing the mane out of the way). Allow to dry. Sew in a small button eye.
