Easy Garter Stitch Sweater Pattern for Toddlers

You'll Need:

400 g of YarnArt Samba (100% polyester; 100g/150m);

Knitting needles 5.5 mm;

Crochet hook 5.5 mm.

Instructions:

Cast on 114 sts and knit 22 cm with garter stitch. Then divide your work into 3 parts: 25 sts for each front, 50 sts for the back, 6 sts for each arm-hole.

Back Section:

For making the back, bind off 3 sts for the arm-holes from both sides and knit 12 cm with garter stitch. After finishing this stage of work, bind off the sts of the last row.

Right Front Section:

Next, turn to knitting the right front. Bind off 3 sts for the arm-hole, after that knit 20 cm with garter stitch. Then, bind off sts for making the neck-hole: 5 sts once, 4 sts once, 2 sts twice. When the height of the front is the same as the height of the back, bind off shoulder sts.

Left Front Section:

The left front is made with symmetry to the right front.

Sleeves:

After finishing the back and front, start knitting the sleeves. Cast on 40 sts for one sleeve and knit with garter stitch, making increases from the edges of your work. Add 1 st from both sides 6 times. Knit the sleeve to a height of 27 cm, after that bind off the sts of the last row.

Hood:

Now, you need to make the hood. Cast on 82 sts and knit 17 cm with garter stitch. After that, bind off 1 x 15, 2 x 10 sts. As a result, there should be 12 sts left on the knitting needles, from which you should knit 2 cm and bind off the sts of the last row.

Assembly:

Now you need to assemble all the details. Bind off shoulder sts, after that sew the sleeves and sew the hood to the neck-hole. Make 2 balls with the help of a crochet hook and sew them to the top of your hood. It's better to sew the balls to the chain of chain sts made with the crochet hook. Finally, sew the buttons to the front.
