Complete Knitting Instructions for Cotton Yarn Sweaters

You'll Need:

100% cotton yarn (75m/50g) - 400, 450, 500, 550, 600, 650g;

Knitting needles 4.5.

Sizes:

S; M; L; XL; XXL; XXXL.

Used Techniques

• Decreases on the main detail: 1 selvedge st, 2 sts in 1 knit st, then knit according to the pattern to edging 3 sts, broaching ( = slip 1 st as knit st, 1 knit st, draw the slipped st upon 1 knit st), 1 selvedge st;
• Decreases for arm-hole: 2 sts of garter stitch, 2 sts in 1 knit st, then knit according to the pattern to 3 edging sts, broaching, 2 sts of garter stitch;
• Decreases for neck-hole: make 2 sts in 1 knit st in right-side rows from both sides for neck-hole.

Instructions

Cast on 84, 90, 98, 106, 116, 126 sts and make 1, 3, 4, 1, 2, 4 cm with garter stitch.

Allocate the sts, starting from the next row in the following way:

• 15, 18, 22, 24, 29, 34 sts – garter stitch,
• 14, 14, 14, 15, 15, 15 sts – scheme А1,
• 26, 26, 26, 28, 28, 28 sts – scheme А2,
• 3, 13, 13, 14, 14, 14 sts – scheme А3,
• 16, 19, 23, 25, 30, 35 sts – garter stitch.

Start making decreases from both sides (see description above) from 8, 9, 10, 5, 6, 7 cm of total height of the detail. Repeat decreasing rows 7 times with the interval of 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5 cm. You should get 70, 76, 84, 92, 102, 112 sts. Make 3 patterns in height according to the schemes A1-A3.

At the same time, bind off 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 8 sts for arm-holes after 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41 cm of total height in the beginning of the next two rows. Then, decrease 1 st in every right-side row 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 times from both sides (see description above). There are 56, 58, 60, 62, 66, 70 sts left.

After making vertical pattern repeats, make 20, 20, 20, 22, 22, 22 rows according to the schemes, then make 4 rows with garter stitch on the whole width of work. Continue in the following way: make 12, 13, 13, 14, 15, 17 sts, bind off the next 32, 32, 34, 34, 36, 36 sts, finishing the row. Continue knitting each detail of the front separately, making decreases of 1 st once for the neck-hole. There are 11, 12, 12, 13, 14, 16 sts left on each side. Knit 8, 8, 9, 9, 10, 10 cm from the lower line of the neck-hole and finish with binding off the sts.

Back

Cast on the sts and make back according to the description of front. After making vertical pattern repeats and knitting schemes on 20, 20, 20, 22, 22, 22 rows, make 4 rows of garter stitch on all sts as you made for the front detail. There are 56, 58, 60, 62, 66, 70 sts on the knitting needles. Then knit 7, 18, 18, 19, 29, 22 sts and bind off the next 22, 22, 24, 24, 26, 26 sts, finishing the row.

Finish the parts of back separately, making 1 st decrease 6 times along the line of cut in every right-side row. There are 11, 12, 12, 13, 14, 16 sts left on each shoulder.

Knit 8, 8, 9, 9, 10, 10 cm from the lower line of the neck-hole and finish work with binding off the sts.

Assembly

Make side and shoulder seams.
