You’ll Need:

650g of 100% merino wool (120m/50g) in dark-green color;

Crochet hooks 3.5 and 4.

Used Patterns

Main Pattern

The quantity of set-up stitches is multiple of 3 + 1. Work according to scheme 1, starting with 1 WS row. Begin with stitches before the pattern repeat, create the pattern repeat, and finish with stitches after the pattern repeat.

Make rows 1 to 3 once, then repeat rows 2 to 3.

Border of Slip Stitches

Work in circular rows according to scheme 2 on the edges of the main pattern. Start every circular row with the necessary quantity of chain stitches instead of the 1st stitch, then work stitches before the pattern repeat, create the pattern repeat, and finish with 1 slip stitch in the upper chain stitch increase. Turn to the beginning of the 2nd circular row using a slip stitch after the 1st circular row. Set-up stitches are considered as 1 pattern repeat. Make rows 1 to 3 of circular rows once.

Stitches Control

Main pattern: 17 stitches x 7 rows = 10 x 10 cm;

3 circular rows of border = 5 cm.

Instructions

Make 121 chain stitches + 3 chain stitches increase with dark-green yarn and crochet hook 4. Work with the main pattern in straight and reversed direction = 3 chain stitches increase + 40 pattern repeats. In 48.5 cm = 34 rows from the set-up row, decrease 1 x 2 pattern repeat (from RS), then decrease 1 x 1 pattern repeat in every row and 1 x 2 pattern repeats. Repeat from * to * once, then decrease 3 x 1 pattern repeat by skipping stitches at the beginning of the row and making a slip stitch at the end of the row = 29 pattern repeats. At 60 cm = 42 rows from the set-up row, the center of the poncho is reached. Finish your work in reflection. At 120 cm = 84 rows from the set-up row, finish your work.

Assembly

Fold the poncho in half with RS inwards, connect the set-up row and bind off edge. Create a seam from the set-up row/bound off row to the neck-hole. Fasten the whole lower edge with 5 cm = 3 circular rows of border of slip stitches. 20 pattern repeats are located in the set-up row and bound off edge, and 40 pattern repeats are on the cross side.
