You'll Need:
135g of yarn (100% Merino wool; 90m/50g);
Knitting needles 2.75mm 40cm long for the main part and 80cm for crown (Magic loop);
Knitting needles 2.5mm for rib;
4 markers;
Scissors;
Needle.
Sizes
Height of hat: 29 cm.
Head circumference: 58.8 cm.
Instructions
Cast on 128 sts + 1 for forming circle.
Make 6 rows with 1 x 1 rows, starting from purl. It's necessary to start with purl in order to make a careful transfer from rib to ornament.
As the rib slips to the ornament, that's why we start knitting not from the very beginning, but from the middle, as it's shown on the scheme.
Pattern repeat is 8 sts and 8 rows.
1st-4th rows: 3 purls, 1 knit st, * 7 purls, 1 knit st*, 4 purls;
5th-8th rows: 2 purls, * 1 knit st, 1 purl, 1 knit st, 5 purls*, 3 purls.
Knit straight 22.5 cm - 9 pattern repeats in height.
Crown
The crown will be divided into 4 same gussets. The quantity of pattern repeats (16) allows dividing it into 4 parts.
The height of crown is 8-8.5 cm.
