DIY Crochet and Knitting Vest Instructions

You’ll Need:
500g of mélange yarn (50% acryl, 50% cotton);
Crochet hook 2;
Knitting needles 2.
Instructions
Front
At first, make a sample due to the scheme. Make 22 chain sts. Then, make 4 chain sts and 1 double crochet in the 8th st from the crochet hook. Make 2 chain sts and 1 double crochet in the 3rd st of the chain.
Cast on 166 sts with knitting needles and make 15 rows (about 5 cm) of 1 x 1 rib. Then, bind off the sts on the knitting needle and make crochet motifs at the end of the row according to the previously described scheme. You will need about 14 pattern repeats. Make 9 vertical pattern repeats. Then, leave 1 motif from each side for armholes. Make 5-6 rows according to the scheme of the square motif upwards – totally, 12 pattern repeats. Afterward, divide your work into 2 halves of 6 motifs each. Make decreases along the neckhole according to the pattern design.
Back
Make the back in the same way as the front, but don’t make a V-shaped neck-hole.
Assembly
Connect the side and shoulder seams. Then, make a placket for armholes in the following way: cast on 90 sts and make 5 cm of rib with knit sts and purls by turn. After that, bind off all the sts. Make the second placket in the same way. Also, make the neckhole placket. For this, cast on 230 sts and make 6 rows of 1 x 1 rib. Bind off the sts. Sew the plackets to the vest.
