For Ornament

In 1 cm – 1.9 sts. Calculate:

57 x 1.9 = 108.3.

Pattern repeat is 6 sts: 108 / 6 = 18.

Make a rib.

Starting the Hat

Cast on 88 sts in Italian manner with knitting needles 3.5 mm and make 7 cm of 1 x 1 rib.

For the knickline, work in 2 rows of knit sts.

Continue with 6 cm of rib. Then, work 2 distributing rows: * 1 purl, 4 knit sts, 1 purl*.

In the 1st row, add 20 sts, so there should be 108 sts on knitting needles.

Main Pattern

Switch to knitting needles 4 mm and follow the pattern for the next row according to the ornament:

  • 1st row: * 1 purl, 2 sts cross right: slip 1 st and leave behind work, 1 knit st, slipped st as knit st, 2 sts cross left: slip 1 st and leave in front of work, 1 knit st, slipped st as purl*;
  • 2nd row: * 1 purl, 4 knit sts, 1 purl*;
  • 3rd row: * 1 purl, 2 sts cross right: slip 1 st and leave behind work, 1 knit st, slipped st as knit st, 2 sts cross left: slip 1 st and leave in front of work, 1 knit st, slipped st as purl*;
  • 4th row: * 1 purl, 4 knit sts, 1 purl*.

Repeat from 1st to 4th rows.

The height of the crown is 18.5 cm.

Add the Gradient

Make 3 pattern repeats with blue yarn in 2 threads, then cut one thread and attach white yarn to make 3 pattern repeats.

Cut the blue yarn. After attaching the second white yarn, make 2 pattern repeats, but do not finish the last row as decreases will start from this row.
