How to Knit a Stylish Sweater Using Bergere de France Twiste Yarn

You’ll Need:

2 skeins of grey (#20063) Bergere de France Twiste yarn (52% acryl, 48% wool; 80m/50g);

Knitting needles 5.5 and 6.5;

4 buttons.

Used Patterns

3 fancy stitches: purl3tog, then, don’t slip stitches from LH needle, 1 yarn over, purl3tog, slip 3 stitches from LH needle.

1 x 1 rib: * 1 knit stitch, 1 purl*.

Fancy pattern: the quantity of stitches is multiple of 4 + 1.

Instructions for Fancy Pattern:

• 1st row (RS): knit;
• 2nd row: 3 knit stitches, 3 fancy stitches, * 1 knit stitch, 3 fancy stitches*; repeat from * to *, 3 knit stitches;
• 3rd row: knit;
• 4th row: 1 knit stitch, * 3 fancy stitches, 1 knit stitch*; repeat from * to *.

Repeat 1st-4th rows.

Garter Stitch: knit.

Stockinette Stitch: in RS row – knit stitches, in WS row – purls.

Special Decreases: 2 stitches in 1 stitch distance from edge: 1 knit stitch, purl3tog, continue knitting the row and when there are 4 stitches left on LH needle, purl3tog, 1 knit stitch.

Stitches Control:

20 stitches x 20 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Instructions

Back

Cast on 161 stitches with knitting needles 5.5. Make 5 cm = 12 rows of 1 x 1 rib. Change to knitting needles 6.5 and continue work with fancy pattern.

Chamfers

Turn from holes for arms and shoulders. In 24 cm = 51 rows after the 3rd row, work with special decrease on WS of work from both sides at 1 stitch distance from edge, start with the 1st row, then, 27 x 2 stitches in every 2nd row.

Collar

Continue work with fancy pattern after the last decrease and continue work with fancy pattern on the rest 53 stitches. In 70 cm = 142 rows from the set-up row, bind off all stitches as purls on RS.

Front

Make in the same way as back.

Assembly

Make side seams, leave 10 cm open before and after the beginning of arm-holes. Sew buttons.
