Crochet Ankle and Knee Band Pattern: A Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners

You’ll Need:

Any worsted weight yarn;

Crochet hook 5.5 mm;

Yarn needle.

Size:

12 inches long, ankle – 9 inches

Instructions

Forming The Ankle Band

1st row: Ch 9, 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sc in each ch across, ch 1 turn (8 sc);

2nd row: Working in the back loops, 1 sc in each sc, ch 1 turn (8 sc);

3rd-27th rows: as the 2nd row;

28th row: Place the two ends together and sc the ends together, ch 1, do not tie off.

Leg Sections

29th row: sc around the top of the ankle band, stitch 1 sc in each row, join, ch 2 (28 sc);

30th-33rd rows: 1 hdc in each st around, join, ch 2 (28 hdc);

Ch 4 after R 33

34th row: V stitch row - 1 dc in the first st, *skip the next st, V st in the next st*, Repeat from * around, join, sl st in the ch 1 sp, ch 3 (14 V sts);

35th row: V st in the ch 1 sp of each V st, join, ch 2 (14 V sts);

36th row: 1 hdc in each dc only, join, ch 2 (28 dc);

37th-38th rows: 1 hdc in each hdc, join, ch 3 (28 hdc);

39th row: as 34th row (14 V sts);

40th row: as 35th row (14 V sts);

41st-42nd rows: as 36th row;

43rd row: 37th row;

Repeat 39th-43rd rows for more length, if desired.

Forming the Knee Band

44th row: 1 dc in each hdc around, join, ch 3;

45th row: 1 dc in the 1st st, *1 fpdc in the next st, 1 dc in the next st, repeat From * around knee band, join, ch 3;

46th-47th row: repeat 41st row, ch 1 after 43rd row;

48th row: 1 sc in each st, join, tie off.

Weave in all ends.

Yes, earlier I didn't understan this part of cloth, thought that it's just for decor or style, but after making my first leg-warmers, I understood how I was mistaken
