Crochet Pattern for a Colorful Kids' Sweater

You’ll Need:

150 (200) 250g of green-apple color yarn (54% viscose, 32% polyamide, 14% silk; 190m/50g);

50 (100) 100g of the same yarn, but in blue color;

50 (100) 100g of the same yarn, but in turquoise color;

Crochet hooks 4 and 4.5;

3 buttons.

 

Size:

2-3 years (4-6 years) 7-8 years.

 

Used Patterns

Single Crochets:

(crochet hook 4): start every row with 1 chain stitch increase instead of the 1st single crochet.

Wavy Pattern:

(crochet hook 4): work according to the scheme. Turn the rows, as stated on the scheme. Start with stitches before pattern repeat, pattern repeat, and finish with stitches after pattern repeat. Make 1st-3rd rows once, then repeat 2nd-3rd rows, making *1 blue row, 1 turquoise row, 1 green-apple row*; repeat from * to *. For forming the upper edge, make 4 rows according to the scheme.

Pattern on 2 Stitches:

(crochet hook 4.5): work according to the scheme with straight and reversed rows. Turn the rows as stated on the scheme. Start with stitches before pattern repeat, pattern repeat, and finish with stitches after pattern repeat. Make 1st-3rd rows once, then repeat 2nd-3rd rows.

 

Stitches Control:

• wavy pattern: 22 stitches x 9.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm;
• single crochets: 22 stitches x 22.5 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

 

Instructions

Back:

Make 65 (77) 87 chain stitches + 3 chain stitches increase with apple-green yarn and work according to the scheme. Make 38 (45) 52 cm from the set-up row, leaving the central 27 (31) 35 stitches open for the neck-hole. Finish shoulders separately, leaving 2 stitches open in the next row once. In 40 (47) 54 cm from the set-up row, finish the detail.

 

Right Front:

Make 31 (37) 41 chain stitches + 3 chain stitches with green-apple yarn instead of the 1st double crochet, then work according to the scheme. In 32 (39) 46 cm from the set-up row, leave 5 (7) 8 stitches for the neck-hole open from the right side, leaving 1 x 3 stitches, 2 x 2 stitches, and 2 x 1 stitch open in every row. Finish the detail at the height of the back.

 

Left Front:

Make in reflection to the right front.

 

Sleeves:

Make 35 (35) 46 chain stitches + 3 chain stitches increase with blue yarn, then work with the wavy pattern, increasing 10 (12.5) 12.5 cm from both sides. In 29 (33.5) 38 cm from the set-up row, finish your work.

 

Assembly:

Sew up the sleeves. Fasten the neck-hole with 2 rows of single crochets in blue and turquoise yarn. Sew on the buttons.
