1 x 1 Rib
Patent Edge
In Right Side (RS) row: slip the 1st-3rd stitches as purls (yarn behind needle) and tighten, make the last 3 stitches as knit stitches. In Wrong Side (WS) row: slip the 1st-3rd stitches as purls (yarn in front of needle) and tighten, make the last 3 stitches as purls.
Patent Pattern
Work according to the scheme. Start with stitches before the 1st arrow, repeat 2 stitches of the pattern between arrows, and finish with stitches after the 2nd arrow. Make the 1st-3rd rows once, and repeat the 2nd-3rd rows. Rows a and b state for the last 2 rows of rib placket.
Marked Increases
Make 1 cross stitch from across the yarn at the beginning of the row after the 2nd stitch, and at the end of the row – before the last 2 stitches.
Marked Decreases
Make broaching at the beginning of the row after the 2nd stitch. At the end of the row – knit 2 together before the last 2 stitches.
Instructions
Cast on 37 (39) 41 stitches with knitting needles 6 for the left sleeve and make 11 cm = 27 rows of rib with chained edges for placket. Start in the 1st WS row with a selvage stitch and 1 purl (1 knit stitch) 1 purl, finishing with 1 purl (1 knit stitch) 1 purl, 1 selvage stitch.
Then, work with the patent pattern using knitting needles 8 and make chained edges. For chamfers, using marked increases, add 1 stitch from both sides in the 5th row from the placket, then, 13 x 1 stitch in every 6th row resulting in a total of 65 (67) 69 stitches. Include the increased stitches in work.
In 31 cm = 88 rows from the placket, mark the end of the sleeve on both sides and make 3 stitches from both sides as patent edge. In 43 (45) 47 cm = 120 (126) 132 rows from the placket for the neck-hole, make 1 purl and 1 cross purl from the central stitch.
Now, divide your work in the center and work separately. Leave the front half (= 33 (34) 35 stitches) from the left side and work on 33 (34) 35 stitches from the right side for the back half, making a patent edge on 3 stitches. At 11 cm = 32 rows width of neck-hole, mark the center of the back.
After that, make the front half in symmetry. After finishing the neck-hole, work on all stitches, decrease the increased stitches again, and work with chained edges. After the last row of the placket, bind off stitches as they face. Make sleeve seams with mattress stitch, leaving 46 (50) 54 cm open.
I'd like to make this sweater but usually there is a «print» version...
