Knitting Instructions for the Olive Sweater


You’ll Need:
350 (400) 450g of olive (# 20) Seta Lana Grossa yarn (60% silk, 40% cotton; 115m/50g)
Knitting needles 5 and 5.5;
Circular knitting needles 5.

Used Patterns
Knot Edge:
Slip the 1st stitch of every row as a knit stitch. Make the last stitch every row as a knit stitch.
Make all the details with a knot edge.Garter Stitch:
Knit stitches.
Stockinette Stitch:
In the right side row – knit stitches, in the wrong side row – purls.
Relief Pattern:
Work according to the scheme. Start with stitches before the 1st arrow, repeat 6 stitches of the pattern between the arrows, finishing with the stitch after the 2nd arrow. 3 pattern repeats are stated on the scheme. Repeat the 1st-4th rows.
Marked Decreases:
In the beginning of the row, make a broaching after the selvage stitch, and in the end of the row, make knit two together before the selvage stitch. Decrease 1 stitch from each side.
Stitches Control:
21 stitches x 23 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Instructions
Back:
Cast on 206 (218) 242 stitches with knitting needles 5 and make 1 cm = 3 rows of garter stitch from the placket, starting from the wrong side row. Then, work with stockinette stitch for the ruffle. Make purl two together between selvage stitches in the 6th (wrong side) row = 104 (110) 122 stitches. In 2 cm = 6 rows from the placket, work with the relief pattern using knitting needles 5.5. In 35 cm = 80 rows from the ruffle, bind off 6 stitches for armholes, then bind off 1 x 3 stitches, 1 x 2 stitches, and 4 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row = 74 (80) 92 stitches. In 18.5 (19.5) 20.5 cm = 42 (44) 38 rows from the beginning of the armholes, bind off the central 34 stitches for the neck-hole, then finish each side separately, binding off 1 x 5 stitches, 1 x 3 stitches in every 2nd row. Bind off the remaining 12 (15) 21 stitches in the next row of each shoulder.
Front:
Make in the same way as the back, but with a V-shaped neck-hole: in 34 (35) 36 cm = 78 (80) 84 rows from the ruffle, bind off the central 2 stitches and knit separately with marked decreases of 24 x 1 stitch in every 2nd row. Bind off the remaining 12 (15) 21 stitches of each shoulder at the height of the back.
Assembly:
Make shoulder seams. Cast on 120 stitches along the neck-hole with circular knitting needles 5, starting and finishing in the corner of the neck-hole. Make 1 wrong side row of purls for the placket, followed by 3 rows of garter stitch, and bind off stitches as knit stitches. Put the right end on the left end and sew the short sides to the neck-hole corner. Cast on 94 (98) 102 stitches along the arm-holes with circular knitting needles 5 and make 3 rows of garter stitch, starting with the wrong side row and binding off stitches as knit stitches. Finally, make side seams.
