Notes

The Ch’s within the rows go towards your St count.

The Ch 3 at the start of the rows count as 1 Dc.

The Ch 5 at the start of the rows count as 1 Dc + 2 Chs.

When pattern instructs to work “in St from 2 rows below”, you will work your Dc around the Ch 3 from the previous row, with your St worked into the center St from the row before it. When you pull up your loop, pull it up a bit higher than normal to your current row, so that your St isn’t too tight. You will do this in Row 2 (working into the starting Ch) as well as Row 6 and all its repeats.

This is a cropped length top. To adjust the length of your pullover, you can add or remove rows in multiples of 4 to the back panel, before fastening off. Take into account this will adjust your yardage requirement from what is listed above. Add or remove the same amount of rows to your front panel, just before the neckline shaping.

Note: this is a cropped length pullover. For a longer fit add more rows here in multiples of 4 before fastening off. Add the same amount of rows to your front panel, just before the Right Shoulder shaping section. Remember, this will require more yarn than the yardage listed above.

Fasten off.

Front Panel

Repeat Rows 1-25(25, 29, 33, 33, 37, 41) of the back panel. Do not fasten off. We will now be splitting and shaping the neckline. Find the center Ch-3 Sp of the front panel made in your last row. Place a SM in that center Ch-3 Sp. You should have an even number of Ch-3 Sps on either side. This marks the center of the neckline and you will not be working any Sts into it at this time. Your next row ends in the Sts just before it.

Right Shoulder (left when worn)

Row 26(26, 30, 34, 34, 38, 42): Repeat Row 6, finishing your last Dc into the final St just before the marked off Ch-3 Sp, turn. (39(45, 51, 57, 63, 69, 75) Sts)

Fasten off, leave a long tail for seaming last row made to back panel.

Left Shoulder (right when worn)

With finished shoulder on the right hand side, join yarn with a Sl St to the first Dc, just to the left of the center Ch-3 Sp that is marked off with a SM.

Row 34(34, 38, 42, 42, 46, 50): 1 Sl St in first 7 Sts, Repeat Row 6, turn. Note: after you sl st 7, you start with the Ch 3 to begin the row 6 repeat. This Ch 3 counts as 1 Dc like normal.

Sleeves (make 2)

Ch 60(66, 72, 78, 84, 90, 96) leaving a long starting tail to use for seaming the first row made to your front and back panel.

Repeat Rows 1-6 of back panel. Your St count is 57(63, 69, 75, 81, 87, 93) Sts.

Row 7: Ch 2 (does not count), 1 Hdc in first 4 Sts, picot in next, *1 Hdc in next 5 Sts, picot in next*, repeat from * to * across until 4 Sts remain, 1 Hdc in each. (57(63, 69, 75, 81, 87, 93) Sts)

Fasten off, leave a long tail for seaming across sleeve and down the side of your pullover.

Assemble

Block your panels to the measurements listed above. I did a light steam block.

Place your front and back panels together RS facing.

Using your preferred seaming method, attach the front panel to the back panel at the shoulders (I used my needle and did the mattress stitch across). Be sure your panel is aligned and that you aren’t bunching or skipping stitches.

Next, using the same joining process as above, we will be attaching the sleeves to the pullover. Make sure the center of the sleeve is aligned with the shoulder seam. Be sure to check that your sleeves are even on both the front and back panel as you go. It is helpful to use SM’s here to keep your sleeve in place as you join.

Finally, fold your pullover so that the back and front panels are on top of each other, RS facing. Seam from the end of sleeve to the underarm and down the side of the pullover. Repeat on the other side.

Set Up Neckline

With your pullover RS out, join yarn with a Sl St to the right side of the neckline at the end of Row 33(33, 37, 41, 41, 45, 49).

Round 1: Ch 1, 2 Sc into the ends of each of the 7 rows down towards the empty Ch-3 Sp at the bottom of the neckline, work 1 Sc into the Ch-3 Sp, 1 Dc into the center St from 2 rows below, 1 Sc into the same Ch-3 Sp, 2 Sc into the ends of each of the 7 rows of neckline, when you reach the corner, place a SM and continue with 1 Sc into each of the 6 unworked Sts, 2 Sc into the end of the next row, 1 Sc into each of the 6 Sl Sts, 2 Sc into the ends of the last 3 rows, 1 Sc into each St along the back neckline, repeat the same process down the second side, place a SM in last St, Sl St into the first Sc made to join, TURN. (98 Sc)

Collar

We will now be working in turned rows to complete the collar. The SMs mark the start and the end of each row. You should have 67 Sts marked off. Exact St count is not critical here but you will need an odd number after Row 1 is complete, if you don’t just add in a St in this upcoming row to be sure you have an odd St count.

Row 1: Ch 2 (does not count), 1 Dc in each St across until you reach the corner St (with the SM), at the other side of the neckline, turn. (67 Dc)

Row 2: Ch 4 (counts as 1 Dc and 1 Ch Sp), Sk next St, 1 Dc in following St, *Ch 1, Sk 1, 1 Dc* repeat from * to * across, turn. (67 Sts)

Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as 1 Dc), 1 mini puff in next Ch, *Ch 1, Sk 1, 1 mini puff in next Ch*, repeat from * to * across row until 1 St remains, 1 Dc in final St (the third Ch of the starting Ch 4), turn. (67 Sts)

Row 4: Ch 4 (counts as 1 Dc and 1 Ch Sp), Sk next St, 1 Dc in following Ch Sp, *Ch 1, Sk 1, 1 Dc* repeat from * to * across, turn. (67 Sts)

Row 5: Ch 3 (counts as 1 Dc), 1 mini puff in next Ch, *Ch 1, Sk 1, 1 mini puff in next Ch*, repeat from * to * across row until 1 St remains, 1 Dc in final St (the third Ch of the starting Ch 4), turn. (67 Sts)

Row 6: Ch 1, 1 Sc into each St and Ch Sp across, turn. (67 Sc)

Row 7: Ch 1, 1 Sc in each St across. (67 Sc)

Do not turn, now we are just going to finish by working a trim of Sc down the front length of the collar rows, the V-neck opening, and up the other side (St count is not crucial here). Work 1 Sc into the end of the last 2 Sc rows, 2 Sc into the end of each collar row, when you reach the Sc Stitches from the neckline trim section, work 1 Sc into each of them, repeat the same thing on the opposite side, Sl St into the first Sc of Row 7 to join, fasten off.

Bottom Trim

With your pullover RS out, join yarn with a Sl St to the stitch just to the left of one of the side seams at the bottom of your pullover.

Round 1: Ch 1, 1 Sc in each St around, Sl St to first St made to join.

Fasten off, weave in any remaining ends. (162(186, 210, 234, 258, 282, 306) Sc)
