Materials:
DK Weight yarn, I used Filatura Lanarota, Alpaca DK Splash– 120 yards
Gauge:
Hook US J (6.00 mm) Gauge is really not important for this project
Size: Approximately 7” x 30”
Abbreviations:
beg- beginning
ch – chain
hdc – half double crochet
st(s) – stitch(es)
tr – treble crochet
Special Stitch:
XSt – X stitch – this is a treble version of the traditional X stitch. To make it, from your starting point, skip one stitch, tr in next stitch, working behind first tr, work a tr in the skipped stitch.
Weave ends as you work.
•Ch1 at beginning of row does not count as st
•Ch 4 at beginning of row counts as a treble crochet
•Work everything in [ ] as a group as indicated.
You will have 18 stitches in each row
Row 1: Ch20, hdc in 3rd st from the hook and each remaining st to end.
Row 2: Ch4 (counts as tr), turn, [skip 1, tr in next st, working behind treble just made, work tr in skipped st], repeat to last st, tr in last st. (You will have 8 X stitches and two tr sts)
Rows 3 and 4: Repeat Row 2
Row 5: Ch1, turn, hdc in each st to end.
Repeat Rows 2 to 5, six more times (or until scarf is 3” shorter than desired finished length)
Repeat Rows 2 to 4, one more time. Fasten off and leave a long tail to sew the ends together.
With yarn needle and using long tail, sew two ends together
