Crochet Beautiful Starfish

Materials Used
To create your starfish, you will need the following materials:
- Any thickness crochet cotton or yarn (I used Scheepjes Maxi Sugar Rush (201) Electric Blue)
- A crochet hook (I used a 1mm hook)
- A darning needle to weave in ends
- Sewing thread and needle to stitch the starfish together
- Scissors
Size
The size of your starfish will depend on the yarn and hook used:
- Large Starfish: 12.5cm wide x 12.5cm high (5” wide x 5” high) using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook
- Medium Starfish: 9cm wide x 9cm high (3.5” wide x 3.5” high) using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook
- Small Starfish: 7cm wide x 7cm high (2.75” wide x 2.75” high) using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook
Bottom Section
Using (201) Electric Blue, make a magic loop.
Row 1: 2 ch, work 15 dc in circle, pull circle tight and join with a sl st in the top of 1st st.
Row 2: 2 ch, work 2 dc in each st. Join with a sl st in the top of 1st st. (30 sts)
Row 3: (10 ch, miss 1st ch, work 1 sc in each remaining ch, sl st in same st as ch, 1 sl st in each of next 6 sts) 4 times, 10 ch, miss 1st ch, work 1 sc in each remaining ch, sl st in same st as ch, 1 sl st in each of next 3 sts.
Row 4: (Work 1 dc in each of 1st 3 sts in the side of ch, 1 hdc in each of next 3 sts, 1 sc in each of last 3 sts, 2 sc in top of ch, 1 sc in each of 1st 3 sts down the other side, 1 hdc in each of next 3 sts, 1 dc in each of last 3 sts, sl st in 3rd st between spokes) 5 times. Fasten off.
Top Section
Using (201) Electric Blue, make a magic loop.
(13 ch, miss 1st ch, work 1 sl st and 1 ch in each remaining ch, 1 sl st in circle) 5 times. Pull circle tight and fasten off.
To Make Up
Weave in ends. Stitch the top section to the bottom section.
