YARN: ALIZE SUPERLANA MAXI: 25% wool + 75% acrylic, 1 ball = 100g / 100m
THE COWL AND TURTLENECK: 3 balls
THE HOOD: 2 balls
For this pattern, you will need an 8.0 crochet hook.
Size: M / S size - this can easily be adapted to a smaller size or larger size just by reducing or increasing the number of rows.
Pattern Notes
1) Before you start, take a measurement. Work the cowl and turtleneck part until you reach the measurement around the head - the neck-warmer should be easily slipped over the head.
2) The directions shown are for adult woman S/M size but can be easily converted into a larger size or smaller size. Before we start crocheting, measure your size, length from the shoulders to the bottom - around the arms so that the cowl can be comfortably fastened under your arms. Crochet the foundation chain according to the measured circumference. If it fits snugly, then you can use this chain amount for your size.
3) A Chain 1, Chain 2 at the beginning of the row DOES NOT count as a half double crochet throughout.
4) There are 2 parts of this project:
A) Neckwarmer Turtleneck Cowl
B) Hood
This pattern can easily adapt to a smaller size or larger size just by reducing or increasing the number of chains and rows for the hood and also by making less or more chains for the cowl.
Project Structure
This Crochet Turtleneck Cowl Hoodie is made of 2 panels (crocheted as one part) – one is for the neckwarmer cowl and one is for the hood.
PART A) NECKWARMER COWL / TURTLE NECK - this is a seamless rectangle with a turtleneck part.
PART B) HOOD - this is a rectangle as well; we add the hood on this NECKWARMER COWL rectangle.
5) Part A - The neckwarmer cowl is crocheted in rows of short single crochets, and the pattern is the same on the front and back sides. Decide which side you like better, and we will crochet the hood on that side.
Crocheting the Hood
6) Part B - the hood - is also crocheted in rows. Always starting with a Chain 2 or Chain 1, which does not count as stitches. Alternate rows of half double crochets and slip stitches. Half double crochets are crocheted on the front side, slip stitches on the wrong side.
7) This turtleneck cowl with a hood is easy to crochet. It is enough to know how to crochet half double and single crochet BLO.
8) The directions shown are for S/M size but can be easily converted into a larger size or smaller size – just add more or fewer rows.

Let’s make a slip knot.
First, let‘s prepare a row of slip stitches all the way around the neckline. Mark the middle of the neckline on the front part and count 4 rows to the right. Rejoin the yarn and crochet the slip stitches from right to left around the neckline. Work 1 slip stitch in each row around, finishing 4 rows to the left of the middle point.
Fasten off your work and hide all loose tails.
Rejoin the new yarn

Repeat rows R3 and R4 till you are satisfied with the length of the hood.

Finish with a HDC row!

Directions: Fold the HOOD in half, place the beginning to the end, work on the wrong side facing you, use the crochet hook and join stitch to stitch with HDC. Work 1hdc in each stitch 3rd loop.
