Crocheting Edgings with Silkine Crochet Cotton and Other Threads

The edgings shown on these pages were all crocheted from "Silkine" Crochet Cotton in size 50, using a No. 14 steel crochet hook. However, any of the following threads may be used, depending on the intended use for the finished piece. The mentioned hook sizes are generally the most practical for each type of thread.
When using different threads:
- With "Silkine" Pearl Cotton No. 3, use a No. 5 hook.
- With size 5 cotton, use a No. 6 hook.
- With Star Crochet Cord, use a No. 5 hook.
- With "Silkateen-Sansilk," use a No. 8 steel hook.
- For Gem Mercerized Crochet Cotton, no specific size is mentioned but is highly recommended for its beauty.
- For Gem or De Luxe Ready-Shrunk Mercerized Cotton, appropriate for coarser edgings, use a No. 7 hook.
These threads come in many attractive colors and tones, allowing the edgings to complement existing color schemes.
