550 (600)g of 100% merino yarn (160m/50g);

Knitting needles 6;

7 buttons 23 mm diameter.

Stitches Control

22 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm (stockinette stitch).

Used Patterns

  • 3 x 3 rib;
  • Stockinette stitch: in RS row – knit sts, in WS row – purls;
  • Zigzags pattern (21 sts): due to the scheme 1.
    Only RS rows are stated on the scheme, make WS rows according to the pattern. Repeat 1st-30th rows x once, then, repeat 3rd-30th rows. 1 square = 1 st and 2 rows.
  • Cable pattern (16 sts): due to the scheme 2. Only RS rows are stated on the scheme, make WS rows according to the pattern. Repeat 1st-10th rows. 1 square = 1 st and 2 rows.
  • Rhomb pattern (26 sts): due to the scheme 3. Only RS rows are stated on the scheme, make WS rows according to the pattern. Repeat 1st-26th rows. 1 square = 1 st and 2 rows.
  • 1 x 1 rib.

Decorative decreases: right side: 1 selvage st, 2 knit sts, slip 1 knit st, 1 knit st, draw it through the slipped st; left side: knit2tog, 2 knit sts, 1 selvage st.

Decorative increases: right side: 1 selvage st, 2 knit sts, 1 knit st through the back loop of the next st; left side: 1 knit st through the back loop of the next st, 2 knit sts, 1 selvage st.

Instructions

Back

Cast on 129 (135) sts and make 8 cm of 3 x 3 rib, divide the sts in the 1st RS row as follows: 1 selvage st, 2 knit sts, * 3 purls, 3 knit sts*; repeat from * to *, 3 purls, 2 knit sts, 1 selvage st. Decrease 3 (1) sts in the last WS row = 126 (134) sts. Work in the following way in the next row: 1 selvage st, 12 (16) sts of stockinette stitch, 21 sts of zigzags pattern, 16 sts of cable pattern, 26 sts of rhombs pattern, 16 sts of cable pattern, 21 sts of zigzags pattern, 12 (16) sts of stockinette stitch, 1 selvage st. At 15 (16) cm height from the beginning of work, make decorative decreases as follows: 1 x 1 st, 5 x 1 st in every 10th row. At 38 (39) cm height from the beginning of work, make decorative increases as follows: 1 x 1 st, 2 x 1 st in every 10th (12th) row. At 46 (48) cm height from the beginning of work, increase 1 x 2 sts from both sides for sleeves, then cast in 1 x 2 sts and 1 x 3 sts in every 2nd row = 134 (142) sts. At 19 cm height, bind off 1 x 7 (8) sts for shoulder chamfers from both sides, followed by 2 x 7 sts and 3 x 8 sts (4 x 8 sts and 1 x 9 sts) in every 2nd row. At 68 (70) cm height from the beginning of work, bind off the central 20 sts for the neck-hole. For smooth rounding, bind off 2 x 6 sts in every 2nd row from both sides.

Front

Make in the same way as the back, but bind off the central 22 sts for the neck-hole at 60 (62) cm height, then bind off 1 x 3 sts, 1 x 2 sts and 6 x 1 st in every 2nd row from both sides. Make shoulder chamfer at 18 cm height of sleeve.

Assembly

For shoulder placket, cast on 11 sts and work in the following way: 1 selvage st, * 1 knit st, 1 purl*; repeat from * to *, then finish with 1 knit st, and 1 selvage st. At 17 cm height from the beginning of work, leave the remaining sts. Make the second placket in the same way, but with 4 button-loops. Lift 111 sts along the neck-hole and 11 sts in every st of the placket = 133 sts. Knit in the following way: 11 sts of each placket with the pattern as previously, then work with 3 x 3 rib on 111 sts. At 18 cm height of the collar, bind off all the sts according to the pattern.
