Detailed Sweater Knitting Instructions using Anny Blatt Merinos Yarn



You’ll Need:
11/12/13/14 skeins of Anny Blatt Merinos yarn (100% merino wool; 125m/50g) in light-blue color (184);
Knitting needles sized 3 and 3.5.
Size:
S (P1), M (P2), L (P3), XL (P4).
Stitches Control:
Fancy Rib:
Knitting needles 3.5: 29 sts x 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm;
Fancy Pattern:
Knitting needles 3.5: 29 sts x 44 rows = 10 x 10 cm.
Instructions:
Back:
Cast on 137/149/161/179 sts with knitting needles 3 and work with fancy rib, starting with the 8th/2nd/16th/17th st of the scheme. At 13 cm height, continue work with 1 knitting needle 3 and 1 knitting needle 3.5. At 26 cm height, continue work with knitting needles 3.5. At 38 cm height, make arm-holes, decreasing as follows:
- P1: 1 x 4 sts, 1 x 3 sts, 1 x 2 sts, and 2 x 1 st
- P2: 1 x 4 sts, 2 x 3 sts, 2 x 2 sts, and 2 x 1 st
- P3: 1 x 4 sts, 3 x 3 sts, 2 x 2 sts, and 3 x 1 st
- P4: 1 x 5 sts, 1 x 4 sts, 3 x 3 sts, 3 x 2 sts, and 2 x 1 st
There are 115/117/121/127 sts left. At 56/57/58/59 cm height, form shoulder chamfers, binding off in every 2nd row as follows:
- P1: 3 x 7 sts and 1 x 8 sts
- P2: 2 x 7 sts and 2 x 8 sts
- P3: 4 x 8 sts
- P4: 1 x 8 sts and 3 x 9 sts
Bind off the remaining 57 sts.
Front:
Make in the same way as the back. At 26 cm height, increase 1st in the 1st row, then work with fancy pattern using knitting needles 3.5, starting with 3/3/3/0 sts of wrong-side pattern and 1/7/1/1st st according to the scheme. At 38 cm height, make arm-holes and decrease as for the back. There are 116/118/122/128 sts left. At 47/48/49/50 cm height, bind off the central 58 sts for the neck-hole and knit both sides separately. At 56/57/58/59 cm height, form the shoulder chamfer in the same way as for the back.
Sleeves:
Cast on 65/71/77/83 sts with knitting needles 3 and work with fancy rib, starting with the 14th/11th/8th/5th st of the scheme. For increases:
- P1: 2 x 1 st in every 10th row and 10 x 1 st in every 12th row from both sides
- P2: 8 x 1 st in every 10th row and 5 x 1 st in every 12th row from both sides
- P3: 14 x 1 st in every 10th row
- P4: 9 x 1 st in every 8th row and 7 x 1 st in every 10th row
You should end up with 90/98/106/116 sts. At 13 cm height, continue work with 1 knitting needle 3 and 1 knitting needle 3.5. At 26 cm height, continue with knitting needles 3.5. At 34 cm height, increase 1 st in the 1st row and continue work with fancy pattern using knitting needle 3.5. At 44 cm height, form the sleeve cap, decreasing in every 2nd row as follows:
- P1: 1 x 3 sts, 1 x 2 sts, 22 x 1 st, 1 x 2 sts, and 1 x 3 sts
- P2: 1 x 3 sts, 3 x 2 sts, 18 x 1 st, 3 x 2 sts, and 1 x 3 sts
- P3: 1 x 3 sts, 5 x 2 sts, 14 x 1 st, 5 x 2 sts, and 1 x 3 sts
- P4: 1 x 3 sts, 8 x 2 sts, 9 x 1 st, 7 x 2 sts, and 1 x 3 sts
Bind off the remaining 26 sts.
Assembly:
Make one shoulder seam. Cast on 42 sts with knitting needles 3 along the neck-hole and make 24 sts along each vertical half of the front neck-hole and 42 sts along the horizontal part. Make 2 rows of garter stitch, then make a knit3tog in the corners of the front neck-hole in the 2nd row, and bind off the sts. Make the second shoulder seam and seam along the neck-hole placket, side and sleeve seams, and sew up the sleeves.
