Medium weight yarn (Size 4) in cotton or cotton blend
Size G (4.5 mm) crochet hook
Elastic hair tie
Tapestry needle
Abbreviations
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
sk – skip
st(s) – stitch(es)
Notes:
The ch 2 at the beginning of each row counts as a stitch throughout the pattern.
For a neater edge, you may substitute the ch 2 with a Stacked Single Crochet (Stsc) at the beginning of any row. This is optional and based on personal preference.
How to make a Stacked Single Crochet (Stsc):
Make 1 single crochet (sc) in the first stitch.
Insert your hook into the left vertical bar of that single crochet.
Work another single crochet into that bar.
This forms a taller, stacked stitch that mimics the height and look of a double crochet (dc), giving you a cleaner, more seamless edge.
Pattern
Foundation:
Sc 5 around the side of the hair tie. Turn. (5 sc)
