Cozy Winter Set


One size
You'll need:
550g of grey yarn Schachenmayr original Boston (70% acryl, 30% wool; 55m/50g);
Knitting needles 7;
Double pointed knitting needles 7;
Elastic lacing.
Garter stitch: right and wrong sides - knit sts: in circle rows make 1 circle row from right side and 1 circle row from wrong side.
Stitches control: garter stitch: 12-13 sts and 22 circle rows = 10 x 10 cm; braid: 17 sts = 11 cm width, 15 sts = 9,5 cm height.
Scarf
Cast on 33 sts for 22 cm width and continue in the following way: selvedge st made in garter stitch, 7 sts of garter stitch, 17 sts of braid, 7 sts of garter stitch, selvedge st made in garter stitch. In 160 cm bind off the sts. Make 10 pom-poms with 4-5 cm diameter and one long strap. Cut the strap into 10 parts from 5 to 12 cm each. Sew 1 pom-pom to the end of each strap, 5 straps of different length to the narrow part of scarf.
Hat
Head circumference: 58 cm.
Cast on 45 sts with the auxilary yarn of contrast colour and make 1 wrong side row with purls. Make 5 rows with stockinette stitch with Boston yarn. In the next row knit selvedge st, then * slip cross Boston yarn in the 1st row from the set-up edge on the left knitting needle, 1 purl, 1 purl from the left hand needle, repeat from * and finish with 1 selvedge st = 88 sts. Extract the contrast yarn. Turn to double pointed needles and continue knitting with circle rows 7 sts of garter stitch and 15 sts of braid 4 times. In 12 cm or after 24 circle rows, start with 25th to 39th circle rows of the hat decreases scheme = 24 sts in the end of the scheme. In the next row knit 2 knit sts together 12 times, then make 16 cm with stockinette stitch on the rest 12 sts. Tighten the sts with working yarn. Insert the elastic lacing through set-up edge. Make short seam of set-up circle edge, sew the hole.
Mittens
Cast on 27 sts for the right mitten = 6 sts on the 1st and 2nd knitting needles each, 8 sts on the 3rd knitting needle and 7 sts on the 4th knitting needle. Knit with garter stitch on 12 sts of the 1st and 2nd knitting needles, 7 knit sts, 2 purls, 1 knit st, 1 purl, then continue with making braid on these sts. In 9 cm increase 1 cross knit st after the 1st st on the 1st knitting needle for the thumb. Then, add 1 st before and after the added st in every 2nd circle row 4 times = 9 sts for the thumb. Make 1 more circle row, then slip these 9 sts on the auxilary needle. Continue knitting on 27 sts and cast on 2 new sts in the 1st circle row instead of thumb sts = 29 sts. In 22 cm bind of all sts as purls, purl 2 sts together twice on 7 sts of braid. Cast on 9 sts from the auxilary needle and 1 st from each of these 2 cast on sts for the thumb, place these 11 sts on 3 knitting needles. Make 10 circle rows with garter stitch, then bind off the sts. Make the left mitten in symmetry with the right.
