Materials

  • Light weight yarn (3), I used Lion brand Mandala in Warlock Sorcier, about 150 yd (about 1/4 of skein)
  • Size H hook, 5.00 mm
  • Blunt needle
  • Large button (1 1/4-1.5”)

Abbreviations

  • ch - chain
  • sc - single crochet
  • dc - double crochet
  • hk - hook

Note

You can make this with any light weight yarn and change the color at the start of any row to create the color effect.

Pattern

RND 1: Ch 103

ROW 1: sc in first ch to form a loop (careful not to twist), *ch 6, sk 3 sts, sc in next*, repeat from * ending with ch 6.

Tip: continue working in the round, use the tail of your first chain row to keep track of rows or use stitch marker.

ROWS 2-5: sc in first ch space, *ch 6, sc in next ch space*, repeat from * around, ending with sc for row 5 only.

ROW 6: 3 dc in first space, 3 dc in each space around (my color change just so happened on the 8th row, you can change the color here or any of the dc rows to create a colorful pattern).

ROWS 7-13: Dc in each st around. Fasten off and weave in ends on last row.

Try on the cowl and fold over the front to your liking, place the button on the fold and sew button on.

You’re done! Great job!
