Crochet Beautiful Purse

Supplies:

Crochet Hook. (I used a size H for the green purse, and a larger one for the purple.)
Yarn (I used Red Heart Super Saver Yarn. I used about a half a skein.)

Special Notes:

*sc2tog= single crochet two together (Draw up a loop in next stitch. Draw up a loop in the next stitch, after that. (There should now be 3 loops on the hook.) Yarn over hook. Draw yarn through all 3 loops on the hook. (One decrease made)

Crochet Beautiful Purse

Pattern:

Sides: (Make 2)
Ch 5
Row 1: sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 3 ch. Turn. (4 sc)
Row 2: ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in last sc. Turn. (6 sc)
Row 3: ch 1, sc in each sc across. Turn. (6 sc)
Row 4: ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in last sc. Turn. (8 sc)

Row 5: ch 1, sc across. Turn. (8 sc)
Row 6: ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in last sc. Turn. (10 sc)
Row 7: ch 1, sc across. Turn. (10 sc)
Row 8: ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 8 sc, 2 sc in last sc. Turn. (12 sc)

Row 9-12: ch 1, sc across. Turn. (12 sc)
Row 13: ch 1, sc2tog two times, sc 4, sc2tog two times. Turn. (8 sc)
Row 14: ch 1, sc across. Turn. (8sc)

Row 15: ch 1, sc across. Do not turn.

ch 1, sc 14 evenly spaced up the side. Sc 4 across the top. Sc 14 evenly spaced down the side. Fasten off.

Body:
ch 29
Row 1: sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 27 sc. Turn. (28 sc)

Row 2-14: ch 1, sc across. Turn. ( 28 sc)
Row 15: ch 1, sc back loop only across. Turn. (28 sc)
Row 16-23: ch 1, sc across. Turn. (28 sc)

Row 24: ch 1, sc front loop only across. Turn. (28 sc)
Row 25-43: ch 1. sc across. Turn. (28 sc)
Row 44: ch 1, sc2tog twice, sc 20, sc2tog twice. Turn. (24 sc)

Row 45: ch 1 sc2tog twice, sc 16, sc 2tog twice. Turn. (20 sc)
Row 46: ch 1 sc2tog twice, sc 12, sc 2tog twice. Turn. (16 sc)
Row 47: ch 1 sc2tog twice, sc 8, sc 2tog twice. Turn. (12 sc)
Row 48: ch 1 sc2tog twice, sc 4, sc 2tog twice. Turn. (8 sc)

Row 49: ch 1, sc across. Do not turn.
ch 1, sc 50 evenly spaced up the side. Sc across the back of the foundation ch. Sc 50 evenly spaced up the side. Do not finish off.
Form button loop: sl st in next 3 sc, ch 8, skip 2 sc, join with sl st in next sc. Finish off.

Put it all together:

First side:

Working with the right side, line up the side panel with the main piece. Make sure that the bottom of the sides line up correctly between the rows on the body that were worked in only one loop.

Attach yarn to the top, where the side meets the body. ch 1, sc through the back loop only of the side piece and the front loop only of the body piece, continue around until the side is attached. (Leave the 4 sc on the top of the sides unworked) Fasten off.

Second side:

Repeat the above directions with the second side, but do not finish off.
Make strap:
Row 1: sc 4 across the top of the side. Turn. (4 sc)
Row 2- 50: sc 4 across. Turn. (4 sc)
Attach with 4 sl st to back loop only of the 4 unworked sc of the top of the other side. Finish off.

Make the button:

ch 2
Round 1: sc 6 in the second ch from hook. Join with sl st to the first sc.
Round 2: ch 1, 2 sc in same sc, sc in next sc, *2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc*, repeat * to * 2 times. Join with sl st and finish off.
Sew button to body so that it aligns with the button loop.
