  • H/5 mm crochet hook
  • Magnetic snap button

Stitches/Abbreviations Used

  • ** - Repeat instructions between asterisks as many times as directed

  • [ ] - Repeat instructions within parentheses as a set as many times as directed

  • st/sts - stitch/stitches

  • sl st - slip stitch

  • ch - chain

  • dc - double crochet

  • dc2tog - double crochet 2 sts together (dc decrease)

Technique

Dc2tog with a skipped ch/st in between - Yarn over, insert hook in the next st and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops of the hook, yarn over, skip next ch/st, insert hook in the next st and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on the hook, yarn over and pull through all the 3 loops.

Instructions

Row 1: Ch 32, skip 3 ch from hook and work a dc in the 4th ch, dc in next 5 ch, dc2tog with a skipped ch in between, dc in next 5 ch, [dc, ch 1, dc] in the next ch, dc in next 5 ch, dc2tog with a skipped ch in between, dc in next 5 ch, 2 dc in the last ch. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in next 5 sts, dc2tog with a skipped st in between, dc in next 5 sts, [dc, ch 1, dc] in the next st, dc in next 5 sts, dc2tog with a skipped st in between, dc in next 5 sts, 2 dc in the last st. Turn.

Repeat row 2 fifteen more times. Total length is about 13 inches. With the right side facing, fold about 4 inches of the lower part above and sew both the sides together. After sewing, pull the right side out.

Attach the magnetic snap button and sew the pompoms along the edge of the flap.

You can also make it longer, attach a strap to the sides, and make it a sling bag.
