Abbreviations

st – stitch

sts – stitches

ch – chain

sl st – slip stitch

sc – single crochet

hdc – half double crochet

Materials Used

Any thickness crochet cotton or yarn; I used Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat 2 ply crochet cotton colour (106) Snow White.

A crochet hook; I used a 1mm hook.

A darning needle to weave in ends.

Scissors.

Yellow fabric paint for the centre of the flower.

Size

Large Frangipani

(Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook)
10cm across or 4 inches across

Medium Frangipani

(Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook)
6cm across or 2.5 inches across

Small Frangipani

(Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook)
4cm across or 1.5 inches across

Flower Pattern Instructions

Using (106) Snow White make a magic loop.

Row 1: (9 ch, miss 1st ch, work 1 sc in each remaining ch, sl st in circle) 5 times. Pull circle tight.

Row 2: (Working up the back of the chain work 1 sc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next st, 1 dc in following st, 1 tr in each of next 2 sts, 2 tr in following st, 1 tr in next st, 1 dc in last st, 1 ch, sl st in ch at point, 1 ch, 1 dc in 1st st down other side, 1 tr in next st, 2 tr in following st, 1 tr in each of next 2 sts, 1 dc in following st, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in last st) 5 times. Fasten off leaving a long tail to stitch the petals together.

To Make Up

Weave in the end at the centre circle. Using the other end stitch the petals together about halfway up with one petal overlapping the other slightly as shown.

Paint the centre part of the flower with yellow fabric paint as shown.
