Materials
- Light Worsted Weight Yarn
- Yarn Needle
- F/5 3.75mm Crochet Hook
- E/4 3.50mm Crochet Hook
- Sizes: 0-3 months (3-6 months, 6-9 months)
Stitches
- CH: Chain- Yarn over pull through one loop.
- SS: Slip stitch- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over and pull through both the stitch and loop on the hook.
- DC: Double crochet- Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops. Yarn over pull through two loops.
- SC: Single crochet- Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through two loops.
- HDC: Half double crochet- Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over pull through three stitches.
Instructions
Sole (Make 4 for one pair)
With the larger hook:
- Chain 9 (11, 12)
- Round 1: In the second chain from hook make 3 SC. SC in the next 6 (8, 9). SC 6 in the last chain. Working around the backside of the chain, SC 6 (8, 9). 3 SC in the last chain. Join with a SS to the first SC made.
- Round 2: CH 1. Make 2 HDC in each of the next three stitches. HDC 3 (4, 4). SC 3 (4, 5). Make 2 SC in each of the next 6 stitches. SC 3 (4, 5). HDC 3 (4, 4). Make 2 HDC in each of the last three stitches. Join with a SS to the first HDC made.
- Round 3: Chain 2. *2 DC in the same stitch. DC.* Repeat from * to * a total of three times. DC 3 (4, 4). HDC 3 (4, 5). *2 HDC. HDC.* Repeat from * to * a total of six times. HDC 3 (4, 5). DC 3 (4, 4). *2 DC. DC.* Repeat from * to * a total of three times. Join with a SS to the first DC made.
- Finish off using the Invisible Join Method.
- Taking 2 of the soles that you made, Join with a SS to the middle of the heel. SS around the whole sole joining the two together. Join to the first SS made with the Invisible Join Method. (This also counts as SS).
- 49 (53, 55) SS total.
Switch to Smaller Hook
Heel
- On the heel locate where you began to join the soles. (should be directly in the middle of the heel). Counting counter clock wise, join with a SS to be the 8 (9, 10) SS made.
- Row 1: CH 1. SC in same stitch and in the next 15 (17, 19).
- Row 2-3: CH 1. SC across. (16 (18, 20))
- Row 4: CH 1. HDC. CH 1. Skip next stitch. HDC 1(2, 2). CH 1. Skip next stitch. HDC 2(2, 3). CH 1. Skip next stitch. HDC 2. CH 1. Skip next stitch. HDC 2(2, 3). CH 1. Skip next stitch. HDC 1(2, 2). CH 1. Skip next stitch. HDC in last stitch.
- Row 5: CH 1. SC in each stitch and in each chain space across.
Straps
- Skip 3 (4, 4) slip stitches on either side of the heel. Join with a slip stitch.
- Row 1-17: CH 1. SC in same stitch and in the next two stitches.
- Repeat for the other side of the heel.
- Cross them over each other and attach to opposite sides.
- Weave in ends.
For the laces, create a series of chains 6-8 inches long. Weave between the CH 1 spaces created in Row 4 of heel.
