Create Your Own Adorable Crocheted Dolly: A Step-By-Step Guide

Supplies

G hook
Yarn in worsted weight: red, cream ( I used loops and threads impeccable )
Safety eyes or embroidery floss
Poly fil stuffing
Yarn needle
Optional:
Red felt
Lace ribbon
Small amount of red gingham fabric

Head

Ch 2
1. 6sc in second ch from hk – 6
2. 2sc in each st around – 12
3. (sc, inc) 6x – 18
4. (sc 2, inc) 6x – 24
5. (sc 3, inc) 6x – 30
6. (sc 14, inc) 2x – 32
7. (sc 15, inc) 2x – 34
8 – 11. sc around – 34 each row
12. (sc 15, dec) 2x – 32
13. (sc 14, dec) 2x – 30
14. (sc 3, dec) 6x – 24
15. (sc 2, dec) 6x – 18
Begin stuffing.
If using safety eyes, place and lock into place before you close her head off.
16. (sc, dec) 6x – 12
17. dec 6 – 6
Fasten off, sew shut, leave a long tail for sewing onto body.

Body

Ch 6
1. Starting in 2nd ch from hk, sc in next 4 sts, 2scs in last st in ch, continuing along the back of ch, sc in next 5 – 11
2. sc in next 10, 2sc in last st – 12
3. sc 5, 2sc, sc 5, 2sc – 14
4. sc 6, 2sc, sc 6, 2sc – 16
5. sc 7, 2sc, sc 7, 2sc – 18
6. sc 8, 2sc, sc 8, 2sc – 20
7 – 13. sc around – 20
14. sc 8, dec, sc 8, dec – 18
Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing.
Stuff body, sew shut across.

Legs (Make Two)

Ch 2
1. 7sc in second ch from hk – 7
2. 2sc in each st around – 14
3. (sc, inc) 7x – 21
4. sc around – 21
5. (sc, dec) 7x – 14
6. dec 3, sc 8 – 11
7 – 13. sc around – 11 each row.
Begin stuffing now. Continue stuffing as you go, stuff firm.
14. dec, sc 5, dec, sc 3 – 9
15 – 19. sc around – 9 each row
20. dec, sc 3, dec, sc 2 – 7
Fasten off, sew shut, leave long tail for sewing to body.
Sew legs onto body immediately.

Shoes (Make Two)

Ch 2
1. 7sc in second ch from hk – 7
2. 2sc in each st around – 14
3. (sc, inc) 7x – 21
4. sc around – 21
5. (sc, dec) 7x – 14
Fasten off, weave in ends.
For straps, I made a chain and simply sewed on.

Arms (Make Two)

Ch 2
1. sc 4 in second ch from hk – 4
2. 2sc in each st around – 8
3 – 5. sc around – 8 each row
6. Yarn over hk, insert into next st, yarn over hk, pull through. Three loops on hk.
Yarn over hk, insert through same st, yarn over hk, pull through. Five loops on hk.
Yarn over hk, pull through first two loops, four loops on hk.
Yarn over hk, pull through first two loops, three loops on hk.
Yarn over hk, pull through first two loops, two loops on hk.
Yarn over hk, pull through remaining loops.
Sc 2, dec, sc 2, dec – 6
7. sc 2, inc, sc 2, inc – 8
Begin stuffing, stuff hands and arms lightly.
8 – 14. sc around – 8 each row
15. dec, sc 2, inc, sc 3 – 8
16 – 18. sc around – 8 each row.
Fasten off, sew shut, leave long tail for sewing to body.

Assembly

* Sew or glue (red felt) mouth on
* Attach hair to head
* Put dress on body, mark where your arm holes are, remove dress. Sew arms onto the marked spots.
* Put dress back on.
* Sew head to body.
* Attach collar around neck.

I happened to have the material on hand and sewed up a little dress for her. Following is a pattern for a VERY basic dress you can use if you’d like:

Dress

Using H hook
Body:
ch 22
1. Starting in second ch from hk sc across, ch 1, turn – 21
2 – 5. sc across, ch 1, turn. Each row
6. sc 4, slp st next 2, sc 9, slp st next 2, sc 4, ch 1, turn.
7. sc 4, ch 8, skp next 2 sts, sc 9, ch 8, skp next 2 sts, sc 4, ch 1, turn.
8. dec 2, sc 8 (over ch from previous row), sc 2, dec, sc 2, sc 8 (over ch from previous row), dec 2, ch 1, turn.
9. dec, slp st next 8, slp st, dec, slp st next 8, dec.
Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing dress shut.

Skirt

Slp st into bottom of dress body:
1. sc across the bottom, ch 2, turn – 21
2. 2dc in each st across, ch 1, turn – 42
3. sc across – 42
Fasten off weave in ends.
Follow the assembly instructions above; when putting her dress on at the end, sew the back shut with matching yarn color.
