You will need:

  • White, black, and orange DK or WW yarn

  1. R1: 6sc in ring
  2. R2: inc in every st (12sc)
  3. R3: sc in first st, inc in next, repeat around (18sc)
  4. R4: sc in first 2, inc in next, repeat around (24sc)
  5. R5: sc in first 3, inc in next, repeat around (30sc)
  6. R6: sc in first 4, inc in next, repeat around (36sc)
  7. R7: sc in first 5, inc in next, repeat around (42sc)
  8. R8: sc in first 6, inc in next, repeat around (48sc)
  9. R9-13: sc around
  10. R14: inc in first st, sc 23, inc, sc rest around (50sc)
  11. R15: inc in first st, sc 23, inc, sc rest around (52sc)
  12. R16: sc in first 2, ch 23, skip 23 st, sc 28. (The chain creates a gap in the head for you to sew the mouth onto; on the next round, you single crochet onto this chain and continue with the rest of the head and body. You sew the mouth on after you have completed the body.)

Mouth Instructions

Mouth (make 2 with black yarn):

  1. R1: 4sc in ring, ch 1, turn
  2. R2: inc in every st, ch 1, turn
  3. R3: sc in first, inc, repeat around, ch 1, turn
  4. R4: sc in next 2, inc, repeat around, ch 1, turn
  5. R5: sc in next 3, inc, repeat around, ch 1, turn
  6. R6: sc in next 4, inc, repeat around, ch 1, turn
  7. R7: sc in next 5, inc, repeat around, ch 1, turn
  8. R8: sc in next 6, inc, repeat around, ch 1, turn
  9. R9: sc in next 7, inc, repeat around, ch 1, turn
  10. R10: sc around in red color, FO red, not black
  11. Sc across flat edge of half circle in black, FO.

Sew together the flat edges with black, sew the top part of the mouth to the head with red, and stuff the body while sewing the bottom of the mouth. You may want to add two half circles of cardboard for shaping before sewing.

Eye Instructions

Eyes (make 2 with white yarn):

  1. R1: 6sc in ring
  2. R2: inc around (12sc)
  3. R3-5: sc around, insert safety eye in ring
  4. R6: dec around, stuff firmly
  5. Dec until closed and FO
  6. Sew eyes together then sew to the top of the head.

Nose Instructions

Nose (with orange yarn):

  1. R1: 6sc in ring
  2. R2: inc around (12sc)
  3. R3: sc in first st, inc, repeat around (18sc)

  5. R7: sc in first, dec in next, repeat around
  6. R8: sc around, stuff

  9. Dec until closed and sew to head

Legs Instructions

Legs (make 2):
